These dueling dribbles, Double Trouble, finds the vanity gremlins grabbing our attention long enough to create mayhem in the streets.

There are too many distractions in our lives anyway... we could well leave vanity out of the equation.
Thanks very much for reviewing, Bill.

It was an enjoyable (but difficult) topic to write for. Thanks for your response to my stories, and well done on your own.

Oh what an experience and not a good one. Hopefully no one was injured. This is a really good contest entry. This contest is going to be so hard to judge! Good luck!

Thanks for your review and positive comment. I agree, there are some very good entries.

hi there,
I'm not sure this one completely hits the mark in terms of nothing in common except the focus. Points of commonality -
both driving motor vehicle.
both vane
both in an accident
both concerned with other people rather than task at hand
both looking at reflection leading to accident.
Mind you, having said that I doubt the committee will pull anyone up on this as almost every one has done the same thing.
All the best

Yes, I take your point... I just figured they didn't have to be related... not aware of each other's existence. And I figured the focus was the vanity. Isn't it interesting how interpretation of information can be so wide ranging amongst us humans?
If almost every one has done the same thing then possibly the brief wasn't tight enough.

This is a great response to the prompt. I love the line "all chrome and confrontation" and how new wheels and vanity played a role in both perspectives. Well done.

Thanks a lot Rhonda... I felt i had done a good job when I finished... I enjoyed the challenge, so I am very pleased that you feel I have done the prompt well.

I loved this double dribble entry. You did a really good job of coming at the same fender bender from two different perspectives. Well done and good luck in this contest.

Thanks so much for the great review. I found the challenge a very interesting one, thinking up 2 stories that linked.

Hello Mystery Author,
I'm new to this sort of contest. It sounds fascinating, and I think you did a great job of meeting the requirements. Both dribbles are well-told stories. I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

Thanks Joy, for both your supportive review and good wishes.
You should try this challenge sometime... I really enjoyed thinking up a story-line that connected somehow.

-The image is appropriate for your story.
-Thanks for sharing the notes.
-Your word count is good.
-I like the imagery and flow
of the piece about Jim.
-I also like the ending line;
so much for admiring yourself!
-It seems Rachael and Jim have
something in common-admiring
themselves with their new vehicle-
maybe they should get together!
-I like the twist at the end about her lipstick.
-Good luck in the contest.

True, they met by accident, but no, no, no.. she hates him already for denting her new car!
Thanks for your review Pam.

Thanks for sharing. It was just a little play on the situation. Stranger things lead to relationships, though:)

They do indeed... I am just waiting for the perfect man to fall out of a tree into my lap.
-
I hope that man falls from that tree for you!
-
I hope he doesn't hurt himself (or me)!!
Comment from pome lover
well, I hope you weren't hurt. I don't know whether you are male or female from this post and I don't want to guess, but both accounts of preoccupation with self are well written. I love "all chrome and confrontation" - great description and word choices.
best of luck in the contest.

Thanks for reading my stories and commenting on them... and for your good wishes too.
You picked the description that I was happiest about in the story. Isn't it interesting how inspiration suddenly arrives and delivers a phrase or a word that is just so suitable and arresting?
-
yep. that's what I call a "smiler."
Comment from Raul1
Excellent writing prompt! You did well on the focus of people. The descriptions of the two persons are telling and this is good. Well done. Well written.

Thanks for that. I tried to get across how self-absorbed they both were.
