I liked how the writer showed in dialogue, exactly what would take place, after a poisonous, snake bite. The method of extracting the venom is correct, but legend has it that if the person removing it had any fillings, the venom could enter their bloodstreat as well through any treated teeth

What a powerful story and what a strong tribute to your grandmother and her healing ways. Are you aware of any healing abilities in your own life. My grandfather was a dowser and I am a dowser and have become I am a healer also. Thank you for sharing this story.

I appreciate your review. I feel as though I have had many healings in my life. I think the Indians understood things that we don't. Both sides of my family are from there. This fiction story I made up but I believe it could have happened. Thanks so much again.

But are you aware of your own ability to heal/ I'm sure you have without even knowing it.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your entry in the 100-word Flash fiction contest. Your story reads well, but I wonder if you couldn't go back and tighten some of the sentences to allow yourself to tell more of the story.

Just a thought, and good luck in the contest,

~Mustang Patty~

"Healer on Blue Mountain" was wonderfully written rich in Theme as well as imagery.
As it read well and flowed well with no grammar issues as well.
The objective content here was excellent as well as a adjective content which were firmly in place with descriptive measures aligning perfectly.
Thanks for this and have a Blessed Day.

Some of the old traditions and treatments were very effective and should not be discounted as fiction. I can believe what you are saying. The short sentences at the beginning of your piece give a real sense of urgency. Good luck.

That last sentence of yours, "I felt the rush of death trying to take my last breath," makes a well-written and dramatic ending to your Flash Fiction. The snake season is at its height here at the moment. You remind me to tread carefully!

You have done a good job on this short story for the 100 Word Flash. I have also heard of this type of treatment for snake bites. I do not want to try it though. Good luck.

Thank You! Melissa! Really me either. But the Cherokee and chickisaw had a way. Maybe this will be added in with a book. We will see. I appreciate you!

Hi Christine,

This is an excellent write and a great contest entry. You could use this as the beginning of a novel about Cherokee healers. I for one would love to read such a book.

Thank toy for sharing and good luck in the contest.

100 words... you got it! It was quick and to the point. Does she live? Will we know? I am sure the Cherokee have a special way to heal snake bites... YIKES! Good job!

Love the flash fiction story. I am part Cherokee as well. We come from Cherokee and Chickasaw. Anyway, I was trying to become a fan of yours but evidently Fan Story has Fan quotas for the day and I have met mine. Who knew? lol So tomorrow, I will come by and become a fan so I can keep up with your writing. Thank you again for stopping by and reading my stuff. katy moffitt

I couldn't be more privileged to have you as my fan. I feel so happy over that. You don't know how that makes me feel. I have started a new book and you're the first to know have been really worried about putting it on here but maybe I will thank you again friend.

I am starting a new book on here as well. What is your new book about? Fan Story only lets you add 2 posts a day. Sigh....I wanted to add a lot more. There are weeks I haven't added anything. They should let us be able to save up the posts we don't post. lol All well. katy
