Hi Barbara,
I am new to your story, so I know I am missing so previous details. However, what I have read I like so far.
One of the strongest aspects of this piece is the conflict subtext. It would be easy in romance writing to simply have two people in a love/hate relationship be the sole tension of a story. You have deepened the religion and class differences which is not so easy to do. You have also honored the differences with respect. Kudos for that!
One suggestion/question I have would is: why do tears always have to well and spill? Or is it really necessary to cry at all? I see Shana as very strong. Yes, she is torn and sad. This scene is not an easy one for her. But it evident that there is some tenacity there. Could she be both tough and tender?
I really enjoyed reading this. Any girl who can get the princess cut diamond is doing good. :)
Jeanne

I wish I had read this from the beginning. I don't usually read romance stories, but this was interesting enough I think I might have stayed with it. I'm guessing if I had come into the story sooner I would have a better picture of the characters. Even though this was obviously a wind up to the story, I think I would have liked to see a bit more of the setting here. The sights, smells, touches to pour a bit more life into things.

I don't like reading the extras put into stories a fillers. I actually skip over those areas, so I don't put them into mine. Thank you for the kind review.

Well, I got in on the last chapter and it ended well. I can tell, though, there were conflicts reaching this. I liked Jeff's argument...I think people often create the mind of God rather than seeking it.

Good afternoon, Barbara

Fitting end. I thought love would prevail. The writing was impressive (as always).
You had my attention from the beginning to the end. You presented strong arguments for each possible ending. Well done! Looking forward to your next novel.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

Barbara, what a wonderful doozy of an ending. I love happy endings. You did a good job on pulling all of the pieces together and blending them into one conclusion that settled all of the angst and indecision. Well done.

What a lovely ending! Wish I still had a six for it. You kept us on tenterhooks right to the very end. I liked the bit about the dog undoing the packing and I like the way you staged the romantic kiss in front of Shana's house for the benefit of the parents.

I think it is cute how the dogs are trying to get Drew and Shana together. Animals are so intuitive. Drew asking Shana to marry him in front of her parents' house with them watching made me go back and reread, because I thought I missed something. I realized Shana made the decision to stop making a choice, and realized how much Drew loved her. Very good. This is a wonderful book.

Thank you for the kind review. I thought Shana needed to make a stand in front of her dad, and she did. LOL

A very dramatic happy end, which I really liked. I know this is your story and it pulled me in from the moment I began to read it. That's why I feel as if there are still bits and pieces hanging around that should be trimmed: the painting, the Mafia (have they been caught?), the wife, the house decorations.

But maybe you're planning a continuation in a second book where Drew and Shana have six children?

She put in a blouse and the dog reached in with his teeth, took it out, and then dropped it to the floor.(delete-")

"I was twenty-three in April." ~ The cast of character (and you as the writer on several occasions)says she's 25.

I didn't understand what I was putting you through for that I'm sorry." ~ split this into two sentences or join them with "and" or you could separate the two sentences with a comma after "through"

The questions you have have been answered in the past few posts. Shana will get the painting back after the trail. It's evidence. The main mafia members have been arrested. Patricia is dead, she was murdered in the hospital and Shana gave her house decorating notes to Susan and she will finish it. Thank you for the kind review.

I loved the ending of your story. You do have a gift for telling an interesting story, and the basis for the last chapter was just as interesting, I am sure. I hope to run into more of your work in the future. This was so enjoyable to read that I was sorry to have it end. Great job.
