You listed them and gave your reasons. What more does an article of this nature need. I did like the comment on Psycho, and was impressed that you included Full Metal Jacket as few people would probably classify it as horror, but why not. War is horrific, and the training can be too.

War is as horrific as any other experience I've had, Jim.
    Thank you for reading.

I haven't seen all of these, but I've seen most. "Psycho" is a masterpiece, and "Night of the Living Dead" virtually created a new genre.

At any rate, there is certainly no one better qualified to comment on horror films than you.

Thanks for checkin' out my list, Mark.
I review horror films and novels part time for Amazon.com.
They don't pay me in cash. The way I'm compensated is they allow me to keep all of the digital downloads of the books and films I review.
Needless to say, I have hundreds!
    Thanks so much again.

This is a fun addition to this multi-author book. I was thinking about adding a chapter but lost interest very quickly. I have a short attention span... LOL

All good choices Dean - Jaws being my favorite from your list - my favorite all time horror movie is the thing with Kurt Russell - also directed by John Carpenter - that movie was just so insane - Cape Fear with Robert DeNiero was another good one and the Shining with Jack Nicholson - thanks for sharing your list - again all good movies worthy of sharing popcorn and some cold beverages - respectfully Ron

Hello Dean I like how give your own unique way of telling us what you thought of your best horror movies
The most freighting movie I saw when I was a kid in 1946 was
The Spiral Staircase-
The Spiral Staircase is a 1946 American psychological horror film[5] directed by Robert Siodmak and starring Dorothy McGuire, George Brent, and Ethel Barrymore. Adapted from Ethel Lina White's British novel Some Must Watch (1933) by screenwriter Mel Dinelli, the film follows a mute young woman in an early-20th century Vermont town being terrorized by a serial killer who targets disabled women.

Dean the part that scared me to death was seeing a evil eye to me it took up the whole movie screen along with the sight of viewing a huge spider lurking in its web.
Dean if you get a chance will you please read my latest poem ---

    Thank you Gert

I agree on all of these, but what about The Shining? I think that Jack Nicholsons descent into madness is chilling. I also think Pet Sematary was terrifying. Just the opinion of a fellow horror film fan. :)

Yes, I like those films too but I wouldn't place them in my top ten, Pam.
    Close, but not quite.
    Thanks for reading!

Good choices. My favorite horror movie was Bambi. It's the story of a young orphan girl living in the forest surrounded by wild animals and how she survived her ordeal.
