This 7-9-7, Leather-like, has the syllables in the right place and employs the word, coriaceous, so I can dis people now without their knowing.

Now that's a truly obscure word! And you used it well to make a romantic poem making the coriaceous state something earned with time and still lovable because of the one who owns the hands.

Congratulations on the 2nd place finish, Yvette! Thanks for creating the contest!

A very well-written 7-9-7 with an obscure word that means leather-like. There are many older people that work in the sun their whole life and their skin become more and more leather-like.

Well, this is a new word to add to my vocabulary, so I thank you, and I love the way it's been used. It brings to mind a hard-working man, a husband, or father perhaps, maybe now retired. Wonderful imagery! Best of luck in the contest.

Wow Yvette!!! That's a 50 cent word! I had to google that one... "rugged" ... lol just kidding... but sometimes I wonder you know??? The definitions that end up in the Author's notes! Am I the only one that reaches for a phone? Coriaceous... and no... I didn't look below... I looked for myself! LOL Funny... I wrote something a while ago and Fonda said, "You should define, whatever it was, in Author's notes" I couldn't help but tell her that half the time I see the things in there I'm totally insulted. I mean, how stupid do people really think we are anyway? Next thing you know we'll be being asked to provide a detailed analysis of our work. lol Okay... gone overboard on your word! Loved the poem hon!

Oh my goodness!! :) ;) You are too much -- what lovely stars! :) And, yeah, I get what you mean about the defs at the end of some of the writes sometimes....you have to wonder if they mean to be condescending or they've actually gotten questions so they added them, ya know? :) ;) Most times, I just write and let folks pull out their phones and such...this one I put there just 'cuz of the contest!! :) ;) I really meant it when I said thanx for the sunshine, Susan -- I really needed these smiles tonight, Lady, and you came through with flying colors (& stars - lol!)!! :) ;) Take care of you and have a wonderful rest of the week! :) ;)

So glad I can make you laugh Yvette... Not too many people that I can speak plainly with here, you, Fonda and maybe two or three others. I'm glad I've got a few new friends out here! What else is there really to say when there's nothing TO say? The author is great, they know it by now... or they should... lol You have nothing to suggest because the poem they wrote is fine the way it is and doesn't need any improvement. So perhaps, when one is a friend...you can find something fun to say instead! ;)

What a beautiful attitude -- there aren't many like yours out there...I have found a select few, but everybody is SOOOOO sensitive about everything that unless there's been some sort of 'breakthrough communication' I tend to err WAAAAY on the side of caution...and even then I have managed to step on toes. Sigh. It's like teaching/parents/snowflakes all over again. :) ;) Thanx so much being out there -- it's good to know that you are!! :) ;) Yvette

It's been fun seeing the different entries to this contest. So many words I've never heard of before! Coriaceous is definitely a new one for me. You've used it well in your poem. You've created vivid imagery that leaves the reader able to imagine both the sight and feel of coriaceous skin. Thanks for introducing me to another new word! Best of luck to you in the contest with this well written entry! :)

When I was going to a Catholic elementary school back in the fifty's, I would on occasion make up words. Once using an imaginary word, a Sister/Nun stopped, thought for a few seconds... pointed her finger at me and said, "That's not a real word!" Coriaceous, although real, had I used it sixty years ago, I'm quite sure I would have gotten the same response. Good luck in the contests.

This excellent 7-9-7 perfectly meets the standards of the prompt.
I admit this is my first time to be exposed to this word. You have used
it well to describe precious hands and their touch.
