This is my first reading of a chapter and I thoroughly became engrossed with the story. It started slowly and build tension rapidly. The ending left this reader wondering of what will happen...nicely done.
Have a great evening.

Thank you so very much for this lovely, review, Brigitte! I very much hope you'll come by again. :)) It's hard to get into a story when it's halfway through, so I was very encouraged to read what you said. Big hug! :)) Sandra xx

Oh my goodness, a second explosion just when Tommy is rescuing Mildred. It makes one wonder why she had to return for the watch, but it was important to the lad and Mildred. This chapter had tons of activity on behalf of the patients and the staff, who were still under the belief that it was a drill, fantastic. It also showed once again the compassion and determination of both Mildred and Veronica. I eagerly await the next chapter. It was so enjoyable and educational, which of course is reflective of your research. Well done Sandra, hugs and smiles.

Thank you so much, Alie, for another lovely review. The bombing has started and they are in trouble. Not a nice place to be at the moment! Big hugs back, my friend! :) Sandra xxx

Hi Sandra,

Oh my goodness. You stopped right when it was getting good. I hooe you write the next chapter fast because you're keeping readers in suspense. Mildred can't be killed because she is a major character. She has a starring role in all of this. I'll be tapping my toes waiting for the next chapter. Sorry I gave away my last six star just now. I'll catch you next week when I get my new quota.

Hi, Sandra,

You've done a good job of building the tension in this part AND left us hanging at the end - I love that! Now, I'm worried again.

I went through it with an eagle eye and I found a few things you might want to address:

a few notes:

'Nurses, The compound subject doesn't need a comma to separate the two parts. and the porters who were not needed for wheelchair or stretcher duty, were dashing around...' The comma is separating the subject from the verb, so it should be removed.

'and this time it was a direct hit.... Even though the ellyps comes at the end of the sentence - it doesn't need the period here.

Looking forward to the next part,

~patty~

Hi Patty. thanks so much for doing that. I always thought the ellipses at the end of a chapter leading to a continuation had the 4 dots. I'll have to change my mindset now! lol. Thanks for the lovely, helpful review, my friend. Big hugs, Sandra xxx

This continuation was full of tension and action.

My heart is beating for Mildred's rescue - I do want her to be rescued. Will my wishes come true? No idea. I guess I simply have to wait for the next post of the story. A great one here, and I really got engaged in it!

Sadly no six left for this one, even though it had me on the edge of my seat. Getting trapped in a lift is pretty scary at the best of times. I liked the realistic touch of checking the loos - always part of our checklist when doing practice fire drills at the school where I used to teach. I hope Mildred manages to return the watch to the lad after she's been pulled to safety. She will be pulled to safety, I hope!

I hope she will, too! I need her, lol. Thank you so much for another lovely review, Tony, 6s are lovely, but if it came to a choice of the review and the stars, I'd pick the all important review every time. Big hugs, my friend. :)) Sandra xxx

A great action chapter to keep the readers glued to the page. I like the reinforcing voice behind the dialogue. It's enough to paint that all important picture in the mind.
I must remember to check the next chapter. Great story. ~Mel~

Ohhh, this is soooo good! The story paces beautifully in this chapter. The excitement...let's just say I'm on the edge of my seat. If there were SPAGs I missed them because I couldn't take my eyes off the story! Ten stars (virtual)!!

Glad to see the evacuation is happening and going well.

Checking the loos was a good idea, And adds to the realism of the story.

Smart to bring the medical necessities too.

A stunning bit of Drama with the watch.
