These personal 'life opening' posts are always popular. With your brain YVETTE zany lady the world ( well maybe FS) will be abuzz with expectation (a kind of geriatric pregnancy) from your talents. I look forward to reading the far reaching characters and their fictional antics UH HU. I'm on board the fictional train to the psychiatrist's couch, so share awayLOL
hugs,Trisha

Oh, Trisha -- you have put a tear in this zany blonde's eye down here -- oh, and I will happily wear that tiara...LOL!!! :) :) Thank you so very much for your wonderful comments...and for the seriously 'out loud' laugh I got from your geriatric comment - hilarious!! :) ;) I am so glad that you realize this will not be a 'down to earth, run of the mill' novel...yeah, you KNOW me better than most, ma'am, there's no doubt! :) :) Hopefully, you won't need the couch, but we might make a couple of passes by the psych-department...LOL! Thank you so much for your support - I sincerely treasure it and I'll try not to let you down! :) :) Yvette ;)

I can't wait to start reading it. I have read some of the best books on here, but alas, so many never finish them! It is so frustrating to love a book and never know the ending. I am in the process of a writing a book. It is very different for me and it will never be published, it's just for fun, but it has been hard. I so often hate what I've written, then go back and re-read and think, that's not so bad, did I really write this? I think a little fairy may come in the night to fix my stuff. Anyway, post away, there are no real rules, except don't make it too long. I have found now days people don't want to have to read anything that takes more than 5mins. ={ I'll be waiting.

Thank you. Yvette for letting us know. I for one would love to read your work. I wish to know how to write a book, but don't know. So I will be paying attention like a good student. :) The font color is good nice and black, the size looks like 14 or 16 and it works for my eyes. I have problems with sight. I guess I'll see Miss Marguerite and try to understand her. Please do not write more than 5,000 words for each chapter you post. Unless it is great! :) Oh well, guess 10,000 will do.

Wow - thanx for your encouragement and your support, Jose -- just remember, that it will definitely be out of the bounds of 'reality' as we are definitely talking about the crazy blonde down South - LOL! :LOL! :) ;) And, yeah, I plan to stick to that font there as that seems to have garnered many "thumbs up" -- and I promise to keep my postings to a palatable length...hard to compete with poems as well as the whole 'shorter attention span' of folks these days....think it must be a younger generation thing as I totally enjoy reading anything that's written well and is enjoyable no matter it's length! :) LOL! :) Take care and stay tuned! :) Yvette ;)

You bet, Yvette. I'd love following you through this creative process. I know it requires some revising along the way. Changing character's placements, plot points, or settings is what we do all the time anyway. Usually the author places any of these story changes in the notes, so we can consider them as we go forward.

This was indeed a great 'heads up', Yvette I look forward to your writing, it definitely sounds interesting. I will pass on suggestions that were made to me, in case they are helpful. The font size should be no smaller than 14, italics are harder to read, and keep to the off white background with the darker colors such as black or navy blue as the print. Picking the title is tough sometime because you do not truly know where the story will take you, so on occasion I go with the generic 'Life of ???' Hope any of these ideas were helpful, they were passed on to me. This sounds like a great idea.

Hi, Yvette,

I have found that posting the chapters of a novel here on FS stretches your writing, and the chapters you've written will usually be paired down for posting AND, like Charles Dickens, you will find that the ending of each chapter needs to be a cliff-hanger, so you can keep folks coming back.

Posting 'Guilty' last year found a different book that went into print than what I'd posted here. Limiting chapters to a word count that readers would read AND the continual 'aha' moments almost made the actual novel too choppy.

So, post here the essence of your story - it is a great place to see if your characters are relatable, but continue to write the novel YOU want to write.

Hope this helps - and I look forward to your book.

Some of us are trying to get together a Prose Posse by fanning any other prose writers we come across while reviewing. We want to get our prose read because we are in danger of disappearing from the site as most people will read poetry for the 'quick funny money,' and ignore the work we post.

Feel free to join us and fan any other prose writer you come across and extend this same invite to them,

~Mustang Patty~

Oh, Patty, thank you so very much for your advice and addressing of an issue that has worried me in making this decision! :) :) Seriously, I KNEW I would have to cut up the chapters (just based on short story review experience) and I was SO worried about having to make a 'hook' every time...but I love your advice on essence versus complete content! :) ;) THANK YOU! :) ;)
And, yes, I would definitely be willing to join the Prose Posse - even though I do write both, getting reviews for a short story that I can't afford to 'pump' up to the front page is almost like 'pulling teeth' versus a poem (of almost any length, but mostly the smaller contests/formats) gets my writing recognized many times without really 'pumping' much. And I love prose!! :) Argh! :) ;) Thank you for the invitation! :) Take care and have a wonderful weekend! :) Yvette :)

Ah yes... writing for FanStory is so unlike writing for anywhere or anyone else. Longer wrks can be tricky and folk can be a little unforgiving. lol

It'll be an interesting thing to carry out on site. I think I'm doing one myself a little later in the year. revision is something tricky on this format but a lot of folk do it by adding a note to a new post to mention the changes.

and allow the story go in the direction my imagination - to go.

Good luck with it
GMG

My tip/suggestion (for what it's worth) about writing a novel and posting on FanStory: book chapters are never nearly as short as you'll have to keep them here. No matter how much you promote, most reviewers shy away from 3,000 word chapters, which is still a SHORT chapter in an actual book.

Pace yourself and number chapters (for your records). E. G. chapter 1, pt. 1. I wish someone had told me the same when I posted my first novel here. (LOL) I am STILL dragging my heels about revising and editing (the confusion), and I've started several other novels since. :))

Font= just right.

Best of luck!

yeah - I've learned my lesson with my short stories of anything over 1000 words...which to me is really not long at all, but competing with a 5-7-5 for 'funny money' vs a 1000-word read...kinda sucks! :) ;) But, I promise to keep the posts down to very 'palatable' size even though my 'real chapters' are usually sizeable so,you'll definitely be seeing 'parts' in the title. :) ;) Thanx so much for your encouragement and advice, Dawn -- it really means a lot, ma'am! :) Take care and stay tuned! :) Yvette
reply by Dawn Munro on 19-Jan-2019
I'll try to 'stay tuned', my friend, but in all honesty, I won't commit, and here's why: first, I have lost a lot of enthusiasm for FS in some ways. That'll happen when year after year people one has 'helped to learn' are recognized and you are largely ignored. Plus I seem to experience an unexplained and very annoying huge number of glitches with my account.
Secondly, I've had to miss following two of my (also) loyal supporters' novels for various reasons, not the least of which has been work overload and life demands.
    But I promise to try.
