I think you're saying you feel shattered! Just think if you didn't stand up, the work would have fun profligating and cloning. Then when you returned from the horizontal, it would be much worse. I sense your humor gets you through. " You either laugh or you cry" I say. So keep writing to de-stress. Truthfully, I can relate to your school pressures. Look at me, I'm fine

I love all that you have to say, and the way that you say it. The title leads into the Author's notes very well, just as much as it leads into the poem. Today, in Northern California, it has been sunshine all day long. So I'm sending you some sunshine your way, to help you to get through your trials, of returning to teaching teens, and all that that entails. Your poem expresses what you must be going through, excellently. The abstract Painting is wonderful and in keeping with how you feel. I love and understand the first two lines. The third line, I admit I looked up the different definitions of 'buffet' and found, that your use of it is Right On! I am sorry times are difficult for you, but I see you sailing through this, with effort and determination. I am here for you, my friend.
Take care, Jesse

Thanx so much for your wonderfully encouraging comments, Jesse! :) ;) Yeah -- even today things look wonderfully brighter -- amazing what a good solid 72 hours without complaints/etc will do for a psyche!! :) ;) And it's back to grading some this afternoon -- no biggie. :) ;) You know me, I'll be all crazy blonde smiles and nutty comments/viewpoints by the afternoon -- lol! :) Take good care! :) :) Yvette :)

    Hi Yvette
I am so happy you are feeling better today. Encouragement I can offer until the cows come home. You amaze me on how you bounce back so easily. Or does it simply appear easy? Either way, I'm here for you.

Nah...being part time helps! ;) And I was never one to 'dwell' ... I'm more the 'face it, tackle it or power through it, and move on type' - a smile is my anchor and shield for each day (of course there are those whose heads have been bitten off if I'm not completely 'through it'....but that's another story - LOL!). :) ;)

This 5-7-5, As For Today, has the proper format and seems to suggest that with every day comes compromise and piece of person you were falls off the main.

The roots of a tree bending gave that writer golden words to compare it to his soul: a beautiful image, a fantastic picture, with a simple phrase that describes a whole personality. Terry xoxo I wished I had a six. So much deserved.

Wow, Terry -- your words are a balm over here -- thank you so very much for your lovely thoughts and your encouraging comments -- I'm smiling already! :) Oh, and it doesn't hurt that I'm finished on Thursdays so I've had a break from the madness, so to speak!! :) Thanx again and have a great remainder of the weekend! :) ;)

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem. Sometimes we do feel overwhelmed and without hope and energy. Just hang on, don't give up yet, tomorrow always look better after a good night's sleep.

Yeah -- even today things look wonderfully brighter -- amazing what a good solid 48 hours without complaints/etc will do for a psyche!! :) ;) Oh, and it's not unusual, it just seems to have slowly increased over the years....but, what I do know, is that it'll almost all be done next week and it'll be back to just the usual suspects after that. :) ;) You know me, I'll be all crazy blonde smiles and nutty comments/viewpoints by the afternoon -- lol! :) Thanx for the wonderful comments and review, Sandra -- always great to hear from ya! :) :) Yvette :)

You have made effective use of every syllable in this moving 5-7-5.
I suspect all people--especially those with a little age on them--have
days like this!

oh boy! working in education is tough! did you turn the assignment in on time? no... did you turn it in by the extended deadline that the teacher gave you? no... OK so what makes you think she should accept it now, three weeks late??? ugh... Power and strength and sunshine to you, ma'am!!!! ... so, this poem is divine! Love, love, love "little bits of me" ...this has a haunting, sad feel... I love it!

Oh, it is so good to hear you say that, Kelly! You know, I love teaching, but more and more it has become a 'management of parent expectations' rather than a teaching their students job.....even though things are brighter today (it's Saturday!), I think me and today's parents just have too different of expectations for their students. :) ;) Thank you, thank you for your wonderful comments and I'll take every bit of that sunshine -- winter in the South is clouds and rain with more freaking clouds and rain! :) ;) Thanx for the review, Lady Kelly, and have a wonderful remainder of the weekend! :) ;) Yvette :)

-Effective image and nice presentation, Yvette.
-Thanks for sharing your author notes. I can
empathize based on my own experience,
but am now retired.
-Is that a h.s. or college graduation in May?
-The syllable count is good, and the
imagery effective.
-I think everyone feels this way at one
time or other, especially when stress is higher!
-Take careğ???

Thanx so much for stopping in, Pam -- I do so enjoy your unique perspective on my writes and am always appreciative when you have the time -- thank you!! :) ;) And, yeah, retirement looks really good...and I'm only part time now -- I think me and today's parents just have too different of expectations for their students. :) ;) Take care! :) Yvette

You are very welcome, Yvette. I have a little more time, and can type pretty fast so I enjoy sharing my thoughts about what a poem says to me. I can totally relate to your comments about parents and expectations. I have been retired for quite a while, and can't even imagine what a classroom is like. Then, there is all the testing! That is not teaching. Have a great weekend.

Hey, Yvette.
Changes come in life and there's really not a whole lot we can do about it but accept them. Some like to call it, "rolling with the punches".
Change isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, from my personal perspective, change can even be good and lead to bigger and better things.
One door closes and another one opens.
It's up to us to figure out which key opens them.
I loved the metaphorical implications of shifting winds in relation to life.
Very nice...
~Dean

Thanx for the review, Dean -- you know, even though things are brighter now, I think me and today's parents just have too different of expectations for their students. :) ;) But there isn't any money in writing, so it'll do for now....but I do have some thinking to do later in the year... about doors and keys and the like! :) ;) Take care of you! :) ;) Yvette :)

The eggnog is definitely for you tonight, sir - CONGRATULATIONS! :) You be sure to let me know details when they are available! :) ;) And, yeah, like I said, the retirement is looking really good right now -- even though things are brighter now, I think me and today's parents just have too different of expectations for their students. :) ;) Oh, and I'm smiling at you editing via walkie-talkie ... I think that would have been quite entertaining! :) ;) Take care, sir! :) ;) MD :)

it is a sight, Cyn can't get upstairs any more so she reads the hardcopy while I'm at the computer. we discuss things like the meaning of 'is' and its relation to time with the Walkies. talk about "theater of the absurd.
