Hi Melissa. This is a nicely written tanka. Brings back the memories, as you say, of blowing on the dandelion fluff to be granted our wishes. I enjoyed reading this. Marilyn

You were told that too? Why Melissa my mama told me the same when I was a little boy. :) I believed it too. How life turns out for all of us, now that we know that wishes are the breathe we use to spread those seeds and see them grow for other children to believe. Our words are the seeds use them wisely.

I had the same experience as a child with dandelions and wishes. Oh, yes it would be lovely if life were that simple! But learning that "nothing is impossible" was a good take-away! Cheers- Joan

Lol. And I'm thinking, 'No, don't blow those seeds all over the yard - there will be millions of dandelions next spring!" Thanks for reminding me of the childhood joy of dandelions.

We used to blow on dandelions as well! Though I don't remember thinking that each seed was an individual wish, just the one big blow of the dandelion is all! I agree, if only life was that simple! I still have a little child in me that will find a dandelion on a warm summers day and send my dreams out into the air! Thanks for making me think of times much simpler.

Hello, Kathleen. Thanks so much for appreciating this verse. I have been nostalgic for simpler times and thought I would write about it a little.

Yeah we all believed in that wow time still never change from one generation to the other. Nice work up for this poem and we are still waiting for our dreams to come true.

Cute and clever poem. I did the same thing as a child. I suppose a child nowadays can (pretend) blow on a dandelion if it is in a video game. It is sad. TA ";~)

Thanks so much for the review, Teresa. It is sad that the sweet simplicity seems to be gone.

A very well-written Tanka about the childhood years that were more carefree and everything was believable. Today we have difficulty to see that we will have a future without a doubt.
