I think the exercise here Janilou is to try and tap into the soft, innocent part of us and that is so hard but fun too.

Beautiful colour and images; a sense of exploration and joy at the encounter with a garden and its inhabitants. The last line is unexpected but that is part of the poem's uniqueness. I enjoyed it

I love the springtime and when flowers bloom. I have come to love it even more now that I have a child and they are experiencing that discovery of life and you get to experience it with them. I enjoy reading the descriptiveness of the world around in your poem. One becomes a part of the experience, not just a reader. Well done and good luck

Reading this is as sweet as you describe the fragrances of that garden to be! It was easily understandable and I think at some points that lead to it feeling more story-like than poem-like, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Keep up the great work :)

But very close I think. I grabbed a muskrat once when I was little because I wanted to touch the shiny fur. The muskrat didn't like that. A mean bite on my thumb is what I got.
