I remember writing a similar short poem with this theme and wish--creative minds think alike! I enjoyed your matching photograph too. Best wishes in the contest and have a pleasant weekend when it arrives- Joan

This is a great poem--the syllable count is perfect, but most important is the subject of this piece, and how it is such great advice for us all. I hope I'll be able to let the hurt run off of me when I need to.

That's a great idea but sometimes it's a lot harder said than done. Especially when the hurt has some emotional ties to it, hits the heart hard. The poem is well-written very interesting. Your duck picture made me smile. I've had a fondess for these beautiful birds since I was little. Not geese though, had a goose chase me, bite me on the butt.

That well crafted 1-5-7 formatted poem would make an excellent poster or card. Short, but effectively to the point. I like that sentiment of shirking off hurt. always liked that phrase too.

yes yes yes this short passage says so much its so easy to stay mad at comments made about us or to our face but we should never let it stick like glue because it just clogs up our wings and we can no longer fly

I like this emotive verse that you have written, Patricia. Good job and good entry for the 1-5-7 poem. It is an encouragement to me to do the same as you have.

All the best,

Melissa

AMEN! I need to include this plea in every prayer, because I tend
to be way too sensitive. Your poem is well-done, meeting the standards
for the prompt and stating an emotion many HAVE.

I'm guilty of holding onto things I should let go of. I have to much time on my hands so I overthink things. Your poem reminded me I should just let the rain fall off my back. Such a great lesson. Thanks for sharing.

Such a great analogy, Patricia! With the Lord's forgiveness, we can let go of hurts and are able to forgive others who have hurt us.
One suggestion:
"like water from those ducks backs." (ducks')

What a great topic choice for your 1-5-7 poem. It is such a difficult task to let hurt roll off our backs, but I love your message that you hope to be just like a duck and let it go. Nicely constructed poem and a good contest entry. Good luck to you.
