K, a very well written poem that highlights the injustice and inhumane affects of war. The end stanza very gripping. Innocent lives lost, mothers and fathers deprived of their offspring - so very sad. Such a high price paid for a low wage offered. An emotional piece and worthy of a six. ~DD

Hello DD, You must have known something! I needed one review to be recognised. Thank you so much. No one likes war, unfortunately it started when the cave-man dragged the women out of the cave! The killing of innocent men and women sickens me, what price a life. I was only a little child when my dad came home from three years fighting in New Guinea. Our family were lucky. Bless you my friend XXK.

Hello K :-) I am pleased to have tipped you over to recognized status. War is never a good thing and innocent lives lost is too high a price to pay always. ~DDxx

You did a good job depicting what these young soldiers might have felt, Aussie. Your lines flow smoothly, the rhymes are good, the picture is perfect, and the message is clear. Your notes were informative--thanks for those, too. Good job and thanks for haring. Jan

The abab rhyme scheme works well for this poignant poem about a soldier who didn't come home. Boys do like to follow their dads. Good picture. Should do well in the contest. Good job.

In my opinion, a stunning poem in its plaintive narrative about the truth of soldiering and the hearts of men - well constructed in its stanzas and smoothly fluid in rhyming rhythm, easily kept my attention in the read - complies fully with the prompt. Best of luck in the contest for this special write...

Such barely-held tears your poetry brings. Fascinating stories that enthrall and entice the eye to keep searching for more. Excellent form and great flow. This is one of the best poems I have read recently.

A very well-written rhyming poem about war. When we hear the stories of those who came back scarred for life and the ones who did not make it back, we start to wonder if any war is worth a soul.

Sandra, Man has been warring since time began. I don't think it's going to stop anytime soon. Nostradamus said " when the last Pope leaves Rome and the five hills run with blood, then the super nations will sit down together." Whereas, the Bible says, "when the lion lays down with the lamb, peace will come." So, we are waiting for the Lamb. Bless you, Kay.

This is a very touching poem. I am angry with all wars. I feel all wars are a waste of human lives.
The so- called honour does nt make up for the fact that they have lost a chance to live
your rhymes are natural and lines were very free flowing.i havent heard this phrase 'bumbluff.I liked the last two stanzas very much.

Nice work up for your poem and the picture is priceless and it is a shame the mean had to come to their demise due to the war. They were so young.

This is a well-done narrative that takes the reader through two generations
of bravery, war, and death, and grief. Your descriptions are vivid and the poem is heart-wrenching!
