Oh my goodness. I missed this chapter, Liz. It is outstanding. Loved the mud discussion.
These two paragraphs stand out among all the other great paragraphs:
"In one of her brain exercises, she got the wisdom to know that the maker of rain would not have made mud if it weren't good for something. After all, Timothy uses it to make pots. The nuisance about mud seems to be because it gets on paws or claws, then drops off on different areas of the floor or on furniture.
Because mud is damp or wet the complainers have to wait for it to dry and then sweep it up and throw it back outside. Only to turn into mud again during the next rainfall, to be tracked in again, to be swept up, and to be tracked in again. Bea calls this a senseless exercise. Not an exercise she would want to practice."
Sorry not to have a sixer for you. Marilyn

You're welcome.

This is my first time reading this book. It looks like you've created some lovable characters. Would like to hear some dialogue. Noticed a sentence fragment: Take them outside for rain. I loved the wisdom regarding mud. Look forward to reading more.

Wow! Great writing!
Coming into the middle of a story is never good, so I won't try and dazzle you with false knowledge of what I think is taking place and what took place before.
But your writing is crisp, and enough so that it paints very vivid images that any astute mind could latch on to. Images from someone whose attuned to the environment blooming around her. To wit: the effects of rain and its mud offspring on soil erosion- or some such thing. The utter uselessness of mud itself, except for those denizens headed off to pottery class. Etc. Etc.
I especially enjoyed how you called mud a "nuisance" and the "tracking in" and disposing of it a senseless exercise.
Great visuals for the brain! Keep it going!

This is such an enjoyable read. It is fun to read it for the perspective of the critters in your story. Very, very cleverly written. Good job. Keep on writing! TA ";-)

I liked your reflections about the positive aspects of "mud" and that "Empty is never good". You added the perfect muddy picture too! Congratulations on having your "Wee" autobiography published on Amazon. Cheers- Joan

Hi,
Recently I was told that my reviewing basically sucks. So this week,
this is my review. I'm taking a survey... Would you rather:
A: Have a true review
B: Have a certain 5-star generic review
Choose wisely and be sure of your choice so I can save myself the
needless time and tears over those who don't want to hear them.
I'll make a list.
And remember... LEARNING IS EARNING!

Good for Bea -- figured out what is best to do with 'good mud' while ignoring the stuff we can't ever really get rid of! :) :) Another case of life, lemons, and lemonade! :) :) Thanx for sharing, Liz -- wonderful and enjoyable as always! :) :) Yvette

Thank you for your interactive review. I'm glad you have discovered Bea and enjoy her.
Comment from LaRosa
Bea is really using her smart brain a lot. And she's creative too. The decision to enjoy waiting for spring by getting ahead of the others with her indoor planting is really cute.
Still think kids will love this story.
