A very well-written poem about the fabric of love. Love is going through different stages and if we are patient enought and work on the wrinkles that sometimes occur it can become a lifetime relationship.

Oh, yeah -- this is an AWESOME write Joan --- your use of fabrics and their textures REALLY does a great job in conveying your message without anything but the words necessary...what a WONDERFUL excursion into the a 'sensory read'! :) ;) Thanx for sharing that with all of us! :) ;) Yvette

Nothing too woolly about your metaphors here, it was sew enjoyable.
Simple and effective to make the reader think about their own life experiences in comparison.

Thanks for your review, meeshu. I could be seen as a little bit reality and a little bit tongue and cheek. Spandex because you have to be able to stretch to allow for some forgiveness.

it just struck me as funny. I've heard love compared to just about everything. I honestly hope I didn't offend you, Dawn. that I would never intend.

No you didn't. You weren't the only one. I don't mind making people giggle.

The spandex and polyester were a bit of a stretch. The fabric theme is interesting and works well in places: love as soft as silk, etc. Cold lace is another good one. I'm uncertain about as scratchy as burlap, but burlap is used so uncommon these days I was pleasantly surprised to find it in your poem. Keep going forward.

This is a poem that every seamstress should have on her wall to remind her of how love can be. Blessings for the new year. Patricia

Thanks for such positive remarks. I take it you are a seamstress. Though I can barely sew on a button.

There's a wealth of metaphor to be drawn from these different fabrics, to show the different stages of love. I had to smile at your use of spandex! We all need that extra latitude at times.

Thanks for the review, Tony. I am glad I made you smile or inwardly chuckle with spandex. We
all need its elasticity at times.

This certainly meets the internet prompt's requirement, as you've expressed it, but it does so in a way that is very intelligent and very entertaining. Your fabric metaphors are all fitting and well chosen, and truly do describe different moments, good and bad, in a loving relationship. This is very well done.

I like this because it's true, and it made me laugh! Very clever use of the fabric metaphors. I've had my share of wrinkles in my relationships, too, and a few things needed to be ironed out, but it all came out in the wash :)
