A delightful poem where the poet compares love to various fabrics, both natural and synthetic. It fits the prompt to write a poem using fabric texture as metaphors. I like seeing humor in poems, and this one had me chuckling. I really like "Last as long as polyester." Good job.

While I am not a pro, I am a seamstress. Fabric texture has everything to do with what I sew. I've been married for decades, which made the last line a hoot. I'm going to tell my husband our love is a polyester relationship.

Fabric of Love is a very good poem that identifies love in terms of the routine of life. You have taken the time to equate the knowable to the matters of the heart. You have given us an excursion through the life cycle of love in order to get us to that place of "well worn comfort". Thanks for sharing. Embrace the Love from Above.

Comment from Gloria ....
I think you did a fantastic job with using fabric as a metaphor for love. The elastic part of the spandex is perfect.
A fine, fine poem. :)

I have to admit I had never thought of love in these terms before. Wonderfully presented, carefully crafted, and a really fun read. Lots of truth to what you wrote.
Keep on being this creative, you are great.

I really enjoyed this read, Dragonpoet. You did a great job of advancing the love and comparing it with fabrics. I have to admit loving the last verse the best. Nice job.

Forgiving as spandex...I love this
Scratchy as burlap .ew..
Patience and strength...makes for the forgiving...well done
But first love is as smooth as silk...such good metaphors

I chucked at your comparisons of love to spandex and polyester, (metaphors) but it just gives a lighter tone to a serious subject. And it does show creativity.

I really love this! You've really "woven" a new take on love (pun intended). I think this really takes that prompt in stride. If you wanted to expand the poem, you could include a small bit about love being as bulletproof as kevlar. I think that would be a great addition to the last stanza.

Hi :)
I enjoyed your response to the writing prompt.
The journey that love takes us on as demonstrated by the medium of fabric!
I particularly liked the final part - spandex is very forgiving!
I also liked the alliteration in the first part - smooth/silk, comfortable/cotton.
Nicely interpreted.
Best wishes, Debra :)

Oh, wow, you did a good job comparing love to different fabrics. That's an original angle I've never seen before.
My favorite ones:
scratchy as burlap
bumpy as corduroy
forgiving as spandex
Very clever indeed! Hugs, Lou
