Good luck with your contest entry. This is a sad tale of selfishness ending in the grave. How sad a man can love only himself and not those who would love him. some folks are like that - self-centered and controlling right up til the day they meet their Maker. "We love because Jesus taught us how to love." Well done.

This made me feel very empty. As I am sure that was the intent..the loss of a life unfulfilled with anything of value. It is very sad and indeed true for many people unfortunately.

Very poignant, and sadly this is true of many people. Your title says it all, "A Wasted Life." In the end all we really have to show for a good life is the people we love/leave behind to miss us. Powerful little 5-7-5. Good luck in the contest.

This is a good 5-7-5 poem. It is also a sad commentary on the life of a loner, who, if he had given himself and others a chance, could have had a life worth living. Good job.
