This one-six-one, Meercats, has the syllables in the right place, but loses something with the word choice of "hook", which seems unnecessarily out of the rhyme scheme.

it's quite a stretch I know .I totolly agree with your point. I did have an alternative
cute
meerkats when in pursuit
scoot
but that's not what I wanted to imply.

When the meerkat sentinel alerts the group of a danger they all scoot to their burrow....being on the hook means : caught in a bad situation , being in trouble ...so you can see why I left it.

Thanks for the 5 star vote despite it didn't rhyme.

And I did get one vote ..that put a smile on my face . (biggrin)

Very cute! I always like meerkats and that is a great picture you used! I only gave four star just because I didn't know what you meant by them being on the hook (?) and you're missing an 'r' in meerkats in the poem. Minor but just wanted to point that out - glad you posted this cute picture to go with your words.

Actually I looked it up beforehand

..."being on the hook" means in trouble .. In a bad situation .


When the meerkat Sentinal calls out that a predator is lurking the Gang ( that's how a group of meerkats is called) scoots off to the safety of their burrows.

I will certainly correct the typo ..

The contest is closed .. So I have to wait and see what the committee decides now .if it gives me the opportunity to correct my entry I will.. If not my bad .
