But plants have feelings, too! Lol. I get your point. And it's probably much healthier to be vegetarian. We are gradually headed that way. It reminds me of the Sunday School story when the teacher asked the kids, "Now who in the prodigal's son story was not happy?"
Answer: "the fatted calf."

LOL Not much doubt about that, Helen (referring to the prodigal son story).

I think it is healthier to be vegetarian, but to be honest it's not my health I'm concerned about ;-)

    Thanks muchly,
    Craig

For the "voiceless," indeed. Very well done in so few words, Craig. They sacrificed their lives for the holiday. Breaks my heart. A powerful poem for the contest. Marilyn

Craig, This is a very interesting poem you have penned about last week being someone's son and now being the meat tray. I was a bit confused with the words. I love the colors you chose for the words. Have a blessed day my friend! Teri

Christmas isn't always a happy time for everyone. While some are enjoying their festive feast, others are in misery or have died. This poem has great impact, Craig. Good luck in the contest. Though only 5 lines, your poem speaks volumes.

Cheers,
Connie

Nicely festive poem for the season.
You lay the foundation for traditions and pleasantries to humanize those who are not regarded with much empathy. Food is distanced, and here brought around to the front of the mind as food for thought by the last line.

Short, but to the point and effective.

I know, something of a killjoy, I am. Still, someone should point out that Christmas isn't fun for everyone. Thanks so much, Turtle. Cheers, Craig

You old vegetarian you. I love this. Thank you for speaking up for those who cannot help themselves. We should all strive to do no harm in our short lifetimes. Safekeeping the animals is a big part of that.

This speaks about birth and death celebration on the same day, when someone is enjoying and celebrating Merry Christmas and at other point a mother cries for her son; well said, well done. Keep Writing, Keep Inspiring -- DR ALCREATOR
