It is so sad that some die of thirst or hunger so young in some countries.
They have so much wasted on one dies so young. This is such a cute little girl
Keep writing

Oh my god this is shocking and unbelievable that this type of neglect can still happen in the world nowadays. We have advanced so far, yet young children who haven't even had chance to live properly yet are dying due to lack of food and water. I can see why you felt fired up enough to write this poem and raise awareness of it x

I saw this story on the news yesterday. It is so horrendous, it made me cry. What on earth is the world coming to? How can people not protect our children? Best wishes. Jen. X

What a horrible story, and thank you for using your poem to bring attention to it. If the fear is that immigrants will take our jobs or bring crime to our country, all anyone need do is look at the picture you posted to ask what harm this child could have done.

Hi Michelle. One member says they must come in legally and blamed the father. Parroting FOX. How disgusting. All of the legal ways they come in are closed. They have no choice. Thanks for the great review

If it's whom I'm thinking of, she posted a poem not long ago where she all but called the caravans a bunch of assassins trying to enter the country. I think I'd take my chances against a 7-year-old girl dying of thirst.

This tanka, Little Girl, looks good and reminds us of this tragedy involving this current border problem. One day this will be memory of how it was bad but got better.

What a profound picture you've shared here. So sad, the scenario. Your words are powerful and driven with such angst, I can just feel the sadness and loss. Well done here, Pam. You've tugged at the heart strings with this one. Syllabically sound and presented perfectly. No errors to note.

Pam,

Your true life image captures the sadness of her outcome. Your text reflects the dilemma facing many of those seeking a (better) life in our country.

Hi Pam, I don't see how it should be legal in any way shape or form for someone to come onto another person's land and start pouring out jugs of water. It's not their property it isn't their water. What if the landowner was out rounding up cattle and had put it there for emergencies of his own only to find it poured out when he returned because of some overzealous patrol. (I'm not even going to go into the other part because it's a lose, lose situation. It's not something you can legally argue for. You have to let it be a 'by-product' of something else. If the patrols were no longer allowed to pour out water on anything but public land, well then...

It might be public land. Would that make it right? I think not. But it was likely private land. If you know migrants are going to cross the desert and know some will die without water, it is unconscionable to pour out the water no matter who owns that land. That is just sadistic.

Pam, you are absolutely right. Wrong is wrong no matter who owns the land. I was just looking at the legality of it. A way to keep people from doing it, at least in some places, in the future. If the government doesn't own the land, they have no right to touch any item on that land. Not even a jug of water no matter what it's purpose. It's private property, not government land. They may be able to go there to patrole a border but they shouldn't be able to touch anything else on the property. That was my point. As a landowner, I'd be pissed.

What a horrific story. I am so saddened that our society thinks that this is border patrol protocol? What a pitiful state of affairs our world is in. Your photo and words are powerful and I hope they can change the hearts of those who think this is right. There is no reason for an innocent child to die.

Hi Cindy some people blame her father because Fox says so. And she also believes other fox lies regarding the situation. It is illegal what trump is doing but courts take time. He has closed all legal ports of entry so they have no choice but to enter illegally. Thanks for the great review
