I have a grandson who was bullied in grade school. He is now in his third year of college, has a part-time job and I wish I could see the faces of those bullies now. This young man is a stand up guy too.

    There are many of us who did not let bullying or attempts at bullying defeat us. Congratulations to your grandson.

What a wonderful topic to pay homage/tribute to. It is so true that so many kids suffer due to bullying. It's so inspiring to see a child use the pain to rise above and live a good life. I loved your line, "I used those rocks as building blocks..."

    Thank you. This actually works. It just depends on how you use the bullying. I can become a building block if you decide to be the best you that you can be.

Old men roll memories over and over in their head...I knew schoolmates who fought bullies several ways, but I cannot honestly say that any worked any better then one boy's ambush with a softball bat...bullying is a low animal thing, it knows no brains...excellent poem.

I love the sentiment expressed in the poem - triumph over bitterness and making a life from despair.

Having said that I'm a little confused as to the direction of the rhyme pattern -
AABAAAAA !

If you like there are possibilities within Lines 6 and 7 in terms of a rhyme with line 3. Something like....

"Now from here to the China Sea
All those bullies can easily see
How no one in the whole world rocks
Like a standup guy like me"

Just a thought.

    Thank you. I was actually playing with the way some rap lyrics go. I really was not thinking about rules of poetic form.

I REALLY like this uplifting poem. It's concise--but a long poem
couldn't make the point any more effectively. This reminds me
of a poster I used to display in my classroom wall. The caption read,
"When life gives you lemons make lemonade"!
