Loved it, Melissa. I think you can call this one a tanka with 4/2/7/3/5 syllable counts. I like how it tells me a story of a grandmother working away at quilts and pouring her life and memories into those masterpieces.

Very sweet poem with an image that evokes nostalgic memories of grandma. Quilting is an art - weaving bits and pieces of lives into an object of warmth and comfort. Thanks for sharing.

My Grandma Cook, may she rest in peace, made some of the most gorgeous country quilts I have ever seen, and all by hand at that.
In fact, I still have two of her handmade quilts I received as gifts many years ago.
They don't make 'em like that anymore.
I liked the last line most of all..."quilted memories".
Very nice, Melissa.

A very well-written short verse poem about grandma's corner where she creates magic day after day. The quilts she make are heirlooms that will be remembered for years to come.

Yes, quilts are made from scraps of clothing and can bring back such fond memories when they are viewed. You really say a lot in this short verse. The picture is great and truly brings out your words. A wonderful read!

Thank you so much!! I am glad you like it. nearly every woman in my family quilts (except me, I garden) and they are so good at it. When I saw that art, I remembered the bits and pieces of their lives and work that they do. Much appreciated.

I don't really quilt. It was part of a class I took in high school but I never did actually get to participate.
