a unique write in subject matter and delivery, Bill. Humorous but thought out well. There are times when reading a piece, one say, silently, well done. This is one of those times.

He he he of course this is happening to all Mothers these days as they talk to there babies as they develop in the womb and evidently the baby recognises their Mother's voice from day one, a fascinating write Bill, love Dolly x

Dear Bill, So the fifth grand child isn't far away now! Are you going to be a doting baby sitter, or will you simply admire and return the baby to her mother's arms?
After the previous four, your reaction is probably well known by now. Still, there is something exciting about a new birth, isn't there? A brand new life beginning with all her experiences before her.What color will her eyes be? Her hair? Will she have dimples? What kind of laugh will she have? Will she be a contented baby or will she be restless? Al these questions will be answered in just a few more weeks. The most important item is of course, Her Name!! Keep me posted cheers Cass

We sit with our two youngest grandkids twice a week. New baby, due in April, will be a girl. My name suggestions have been rejected, so she might be Moon Flower or Sea Breeze.

Lol. It has become rather crazy for parents and little ones these days. Fun social commentary poem. Some are pushing far too fast. I do know Stravinsky but never heard for 'Stratavinksy' - assuming it's made up for the rhyme?

Sorry. Not you. I know it?s not Stratovinski, but failed to recognize it as being wrong. I will go with one of two feeble excuses: I was a ballistic meteorologist and dealt with cloud formations all the time. I also taught Shakespeare in high school, to include Julius Caesar.

Kids are growing up wayyyyyyyyyy too fast nowadays, I think, Bill.
I saw on one of our local news broadcasts just this morning that a mother was having the "birds and the bees talk" (or, "The Talk" for simplicity's sake) with her three-year-old daughter and two-year-old son.
Three and two, fer cryin' out loud!
My folks never had "The Talk" with me.
I learned the fun way--through trial and error and lots ( and I do mean LOTS!) of practice and on-hands application.
No pun intended...
My parents did play recordings of Edgar Allan Poe while I was still in the womb however.
That explains a lot.
Nice social commentary and a good poem to boot!

Kids are growing up wayyyyyyyyyy too fast nowadays, I think, Bill.
I saw on one of our local news broadcasts just this morning that a mother was having the "birds and the bees talk" (or, "The Talk" for simplicity's sake) with her three-year-old daughter and two-year-old son.

I suspect that what's going on is that a child who enters the world in that kind of rich environment will probably have a higher IQ courtesy of his or her parents. I've seen movies about the Dorsey brothers and read about Guy Lombardo. Their fathers were musicians, so they naturally encouraged their children to take up music. judi

I did all that for my kids. Katie is a math and Spanish teacher and Adam teaches writing and biology.

LOL! That's about how bad it's getting. Kids start earlier every year, all parents wanting theirs ahead of the pack. Problem is, where is the automatic learning that comes from childhood experiences? I think our day was the better way. School's taught basics, not politics and sexual-gender types. Kids were allowed to be kids, and didn't even know what sex was till their twenties. Scary times we live in.

What a clever poem - very funny, yet sad in its brutal honesty. My daughter just started high school but, from the time she was in kindergarten, I've been saying, "But we never did that when I was in that grade." There's a wonderful scene in the movie "Baby Boom" that bemoans how a child's chance at getting into a good college has been ruined by her inability to get accepted to the proper nursery school. Poetically, this was very well written, with good meter and flow, and rhymes that work well. This was a very enjoyable read.

Well, I'm not sure whether to laugh or to cry ... as a teacher, I have seen more and more this kind of parental-obsession take its toll on the students. As a parent, I want to just clobber the 'younger parents' of today...sigh. Best we can do is engage gently at some times and bite our tongues at others. But, the overall results of this madness is beginning to show its fruits, I'm afraid. Thanx for the wonderful write - truly a current cultural 'statement'! :) :) Yvette :)
