OH... I absolutely love this response to the Millennial radicals, or for some those that are too above working hard for a living (the entitled generation)... Your last stanza really made me smile, because it is all of those worker bees who deserve praise for keeping us all warm, fed, and enjoying all those blessings we take for granted. Well written and stated.

If you could see with my eyes you would know that the truth be spoken in words that all should understand. You penned the way it has always been... yet, many do not see what your eyes behold-that without those that work with hands that toil for everyone are the backbone of our nation. Thank you Melissa for a wonderful read.

Hi Melissa, so very true what you're saying in this great free verse poem. Where indeed would any of us be if it was not for all the people doing the work behind the lines. I liked your message. All the best. Ulla:)))

This is a very well-written tribute to those "worker bees,"
who are responsible for the needs and wants of our lives
being MET. We must never look down on them.

So true. If not for the worker bees there would be many things lacking in life. This well constructed poem illustrates some good examples of people taken for granted, such as the farmer, without who, the needs of life would not be met.

"I've been workin' on the railroad
all the live-long day
I've been workin' on the railroad
just to pass the time away..."

Ya know, it's the people who don't mind getting a little dirt under their fingernails that truly make the world go 'round.
Contrary to popular belief.
Nice contemporary free verse, Melissa...

Oh a response to the Millennial radicals. I'm rather encouraged people are getting into poetry again as a way of communicating. And yep no one wants to do the so-called "menial" labour but that is in fact what makes the world go around. Too much technology I fear but without the worker bee, we do not eat and oddly enough will perish.

I much enjoyed this one Melissa and look forward to more in the same vein.

Very good and truthful. Appropriate for the times we live in now. Some people seem to think they are above all that low life stuff--like physical labor. I'm getting very tired of all the elites constantly spouting off about what's wrong with everyone else. Enjoyed reading your very accurately pointed poem.

Absolutely true! And without that kind of gratitude for all these services that "worker bees" provide, we would live a terribly, unhappy life, not knowing how much went into all that we enjoy. Well said!
