Yes, all things live are bountiful, aren't they? Something about the holidays brings out the best in most souls. I just wish it wasn't a season effect. Your tanka has the correct syllable count and is full of pearls of relatable wisdom. Your image is wonderful also. Oh well done! You have a wonderful imagination.
I live in Ireland so Thanksgiving is alien to me on any specific date, we always seem to be thanking somebody or another for all received. Down to the poem in question. This is a contest entry, worth of success so best of luck.
P.S. I am sure this is my mistake but must ask, if a piece is in a contest, should it be anonymous? Regardless, I wish you well.

Hi Colette! You're nice. Thank you. Yeah, the pilgrims ran away from Europe. However, if you ever want to visit the USA, Thanksgiving/Christmas is the best time ("most wonderful time of the year"). Hi Sunnilicious, Thanks a million for your invitation to the US. My niece is living in Nevada City for many years. She works for the Government, a scientist along with her husband. They spent six month of each year out in the wilderness recording habitats of threatened animals. I am delighted to say that the rest of the year they holiday and then come back to dear old Ireland and catch up.

Both my husband and I spent many extended holidays driving/train/flying, overing the USA and, while I totally enjoyed each and every trip (since 1980) I also appreciate home. I wish you well and continued good luck
