Hi
This is excellent written poem.
Perfect syllable count. Lovely little thanksgiving poem. Where family come together. We only have one thanksgiving in Australia which is on Christmas eve. Actually I just learned we have a thanksgiving in May aparently. New to me, I don't know one person who calibrated it in May according to the internet. LOL.
Happy thanksgiving
Great job
Regards
Tia

Hi Tia! Thanksgiving is when the pilgrims moved from the UK to the USA. They set up gardens with the Indians and shared the crop in a feast. Christmas in the USA can be Santa or Jesus/God and is mainly family but sometimes friends and family. In the USA Thanksgiving is observed as a national holiday since the 1600's for everyone to be thankful for their life in America. I hope you find out about the history of Australia Thanksgiving. God bless you. Happy Holidays :)

"All things love are plentiful" ... this is my fave line, Alicia, as it sums up why we cook with love for those we love. We are thankful to have them in our lives, and we show our appreciation. This is a great entry for the Tanka contest. Best wishes with this gem of a poem.
Hugs,
Connie

Hi Connie! My dad and brother travel plenty and could care less about anything festive or maybe me. It's who they are... So single me, I'm going to the running race in the morning. My afternoon is that Nutcracker movie at the theater and pub dinner at City Walk Hollywood. I wish you a wonderful start to the holiday season. I know you'll have a beautiful Thanksgiving at home with such a big family. God bless you. Hearts & hugs, Alicia (aka Sunnilicious)

I hope that you had a good Thanksgiving dinner at the pub, and that you enjoyed it even though you weren't able to share it with your Dad and brother, Alicia. Did you eat turkey? I know it's not your typical pub type of food.
We had our Thanksgiving on October 8th here in Canada, and it was very nice. Always thankful for my kids, grandkids and Wayne. Of course, I ate waaaay too much turkey, like I always do! I'm a 'foodie'. :)
xoxo
Connie

Hi Alicia. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it just involves good company along with good food (without the turkey as I'm vegetarian). A nicely composed Thanksgiving tanka. Last line is the best for me. Good luck in the contest with this nice entry. Marilyn

What you've written here is very true, Sunnilicious.
Those of us who have families that love us should count our blessings and consider ourselves fortunate.
There are so many who do not.
Good luck to you in the contest.
Be blessed this Thanksgiving and always.

A very well-written Tanka about Thanksgiving that offers us great things to eat, wonderful smells and family members we do not often see, and the greatest memories we can never forget.

Lovely presentation, Alicia! All things "love" being "plentiful" is the real celebration of Thanksgiving. That we can be thankful for our loved ones and the precious memories we have. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
