I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this, Yvette. I am out of six stars. I just did not want you to think that I found the first thing wrong with your wonderful dialogue. I had no idea that you were fond of ballet. I can't believe that we have another thing in common. By any chance do you watch So You Think You Can Dance--my favorite show?
But back to your dialogue. I love your line that Mrs. McCallister wanted to put the smile back in the ballerina's feet. I won't forget that line ever. And then you carry the happiness thing further by having the happy feet project into the room.
I have no idea where you came up with this idea, but it is great. Mrs. McCallister is one smart lady. This is a winner.

Tell you a secret: I was once one of those little tots (my mom started me dancing at 2 1/2, if you can believe it) and I danced for 17 years until I had to quit because of a knee injury [can't very well do all that up and spinning and stuff with a bum knee]. :) ;) ;) ;) And yeah, let's just make this whole thing officially 'creepy': that is one of my favorite shows (actually one of the few left that I watch on network television)LOL!! LOL!!
And I am so very glad that you enjoyed Claire and Bryan!! They were certainly a joy to imagine as my fingers created them last week! ;) ;) My goal had been to present the many layers of communication (i.e., dialogue) that go on in our lives --- the words, the way to act 'in the receiving line', the conveyance between dancer and audience, the kinds of hugs, the phone conversation, and, then, of course, the kind that's borne of decades of marriage to the one person you love and loves you back....:) ;) :) Pretty sure that was over-thinking the whole thing, but that's where my mind was! :) ;) Thanx for the well-wishes, too....just don't do that whole 'hold your breath thing' -- LOL!! LOL!! :) ;) Have a happy Thanxgiving, ma'am -- you and your whole family down there!! Blessings from the crazy blonde up this way! :) ;) Yvette ;)

I won?t hold my breathe because I am sure of your win.
I love your communication idea. I picked up on it but failed to mention it in the review.
Claire cuts Bryan off. Couples do that. They finish sentences for each other. I thought that you were trying to show that Claire was one step ahead in her thinking.
Still love your idea of communicating through happy feet.

This is a beautiful entry for the Dialogue prompt contest. The subject of dancing and ballerinas, and magic, and.... so many things make my heart flutter. Very well written.

Yvette... is there anything you cannot do? I just learning that aside being a teacher you are also a ballerina. Did you teach tippy-toe? :) I like the dialogue, the unfinished sentence where husband finishes what wife was going to say and vise-versa. This is a good entry for the Dialogue Only Writing Contest.

Sooooo, I'm blushing now. :) Such a wonderful compliment, sir -- yes, I did dance until I was almost 20 when a knee injury took away my 'toe shoes' -- it was best as I had to concentrate on school! :) ;) And, no, I was not the teacher, but I did assist in the tots and in the beginners and intermediate classes. :) ;) Glad you enjoyed all my many forms of communication I tried to put out there through Claire and Brian's story...the words, the way to act 'in the receiving line', the conveyance between dancer and audience, the kinds of hugs, the phone conversation, and, then, of course, the kind that's borne of decades of marriage to the one person you love and loves you back....:) ;) :) Thanx again for the lovely review, Jose -- you put a smile on my face for the holiday! :) ;) Yvette :)

I am not a fan (or patron) of the Ballet, but I do love the whiplash move. what is great about this story is the way the old couple cut-off and finish each other's thoughts. there is such a broad spectrum of ideas in that head of yours, I dig the variety in your work, Yvette..................meeshu

Thanx for the encouraging comments, dude -- always just love hearing your perspective! :) I am a fan of the ballet...just not the fans of the ballet (usually quite snooty) --- I was once one of those little tots (my mom started me dancing at 2 1/2, if you can believe it) and I danced for 17 years until I had to quit because of a knee injury [can't very well do all that with a bum knee]. Course the knee thing was a result of my 'split' personality, per se, I was a huge 'tomboy' except for my dancing/cheering so, the injury was from athletics (was either the cheerleading or softball...who knows?? was too long ago!! :) ;) You know, back when athletics was 'extra-curricular' and not a planned career for which high school was the 'grooming grounds' like today!! :) ;)
Anyway, yes, I had a blast with Claire and Bryan...and all the layers of communication (i.e., dialogue) that go one in our lives --- the words, the way to act in the line, the smile that didn't reach her feet, the kinds of hugs, and, then, of course, the kind that's borne of decades of marriage to the one person you love and loves you back....:) ;) :) Thanx for dropping by for this one -- and, yeah, the blonde one has been known to come up with some pretty odd ideas - LOL!! LOL!! Thanx for not frowning on that. :) ;) Take care! :)

YM,

This was highly entertaining. *smile* I liked this old married couple and the way they talked over each other at every turn, while still showing such tender and sweet concern for one another.

An unusual and unique write. Good luck in the voting!

She has discovered the unhappiness in the smile of the dancer and wants to help her reconnect with why she loves dancing in the first place.
