That was really good. We all thought she was being bitchy, when all the time she truly did want to help Marie. It was a lovely twist at the end. So well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Oh, I am so very glad that you enjoyed Claire and Bryan, Sandra! They were certainly a joy to imagine as my fingers created them! ;) ;) My goal had been to present the many layers of communication (i.e., dialogue) that go on in our lives --- the words, the way to act 'in the receiving line', the conveyance between dancer and audience, the kinds of hugs, the phone conversation, and, then, of course, the kind that's borne of decades of marriage to the one person you love and loves you back....:) ;) :) Thanx for the read and review, ma'am -- always good to have you here! :) Have a great remainder of the weekend! :) Yvette :)

Sweet and upbeat. A couple in love with no serious troubles, just success and fun. The real world is nothing like this, which is why I enjoy reading such pieces. And I'll bet the prima ballerina's little girl is fat too. :)

Good little story, Y, I understand why you keep interrupting the speakers - to make it sound like real dialogue. Real conversations are constantly interrupted. I read a number of books on writing which explain why dialogue in writing should NOT follow the rhythm and interrupted sentences of real speech. It makes following the dialogue too frustrating in reading. It irritates the reader who just wants to read the story. That's why we don't bother listening in on real conversations either. It's mostly very boring. One interrupted sentence here would make the point. If I'm to be honest, and I try to be, I couldn't get to the end. It just got under my skin too much. Still, it might affect other readers otherwise. Good luck, Y.

Thanx for the review, Adri7enne -- never was one for conventions so I'm gonna go with reality rather than what a book says. Might not win, but I'm not a 'schooled author' anyway. The amount of positive and 6stars I've received kinda help with that, but, like I said, it's exactly how so many older couples that I know communicate...reality. Thanx for your input - sorry it was so very awful for you. Appreciate your giving it a go. Have a great weekend! ;) ;) Yvette

I enjoyed reading your authors notes as much as reading your story. I think it was the artwork that pulled me into your dialogue only story. Well done. Don and Vicki.

This is excellent. The dialogue is spot on. It is the way people really talk, interrupting each other, sometimes interrupting themselves. Good luck in the contest.

I don't know much about the Ballet, and I know even less about Prima Ballerina, but the thought came to mind, just what they do when the physical burden becomes too much, teach batllet of course. My little 7 year old granddaughter has just started calisthenics, she has that classic ballerina figure, she loves. And she said, "I like calisthenics more than school" (she loves school) well done, Yvette, thanks for sharing this with us, blessings, Roy

Oh, I am so very glad that you enjoyed Claire and Bryan, Roy - they were certainly a joy to imagine as my fingers created them! ;) ;) Love that your granddaughter has started dancing.... I was once one of those little tots (my mom started me dancing at 2 1/2, if you can believe it) and I danced for 17 years until I had to quit because of a knee injury [can't very well do all that with a bum knee]. Once it gets into your blood, you're never really without it! :) ;) Thanx for dropping by today -- always so glad to have you here! :) Take care and Happy Thanxgiving! :) Yvette :)

Good luck in the contest Yvette. This was a wonderful dialogue piece that covered a vast amount of directions. The ballet, the prima ballerina, the constant interruptions in the conversation, the little ones and at the end the distinctive love between the husband and wife. Thanks so much for sharing.

You know, aryr, you are the first person to actually mention that you saw what I tried to do here! :) ;) You seem to have caught all the layers of communication (i.e., dialogue) that go one in our lives that I tried to put out there through Claire and Brian's story...the words, the way to act 'in the receiving line', the conveyance between dancer and audience, the kinds of hugs, the phone conversation, and, then, of course, the kind that's borne of decades of marriage to the one person you love and loves you back....:) ;) :) You've made my holiday week, ma'am, and for that I am thankful as well! :) ;) Many blessings to you and yours - Yvette :)

Hey, Yvette...
If that young lady doesn't stop spinning sometime soon she's gonna get sick fer sure!
Heck, I got a little nauseous just watching her!
This is truly a sin-sational story and a fantastic entry for the dialogue only contest.
The dialogue between the characters was realistic and it was very easy to discern who was saying what, and when.
Good luck!
~Dean

I thought I had a soulmate once, Yvette.
Turns out I was wrong--dead wrong!
Hell, after 22 years of marriage you'd think your relationship would be pretty secure, right?
Now, I have about as much use for love as a bull has for teats.
    Anyhow, you're welcome.

This was a wonderful story. Very realistic situation. Some people are just snobs at the theater, but normal at home. Night out on the town with that pre-fixe dinner gets the snob in us all going. I loved how the story unfolded. Enjoyable and memorable read. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving :)
