This 5-7-5, Little Kiwi Bird, looks good and lets us know that THIS kiwi bird either has a friend or is being collected for a delicious kiwi lime pie.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the kiwi bird that is held by a boy in a blue shirt and yellow buttons. A very beautiful illustration to complement your poem.

This is most interesting Pam. I get a charge out of the kiwi bird and the child in the blue shirt and the yellow. There is much poignancy in these few words and vivid images.
Another fine write my friend. :)

with yellowed buttons- could you just say,
with yellow buttons
What a precious image, Pam. The hands look so realistic and that kiwi bird looks so comfortable nuzzled up to the child's chest. You always represent your images with excellent verbiage and great detail. Wonderful penning. Like I said, you're really getting the hang of these shorted pieces. :)

Hi Janelle. Yellow buttons are those that started out as yellow. Yellowed means the white buttons have yellowedwith age. That was my intention. Thank you for your lovely review

This little kiwi bird is the same colourful as the kiwi fruit. Was one called after the other? Or is it a coincident? Very nice painting and good, descriptive poem. Love Jen. X

Not sure Jen. Kiwi fruit is the national fruit and kiwi bird is the national bird of New Zealand. Thank you for your lovely review

Last night someone posted Haiku guidelines and so I'm reading them like I haven't read them before. How do you do it? LOL My first thought after I read them, and the ones for Tanka which are similar, was that I'm going to have to go back through the ones on my wall and redo them. (I have a whole bunch of stuff on a corkboard on the wall next to my bed here.) lol

Hi Susan. Some of my 5-7-5 are indeed haikus. But, for my purposes it does not matter what I call it. I just want a short poem for my painting. Thank you for your lovely review
