Reading the poem, I had visions of some childhood dread of storms and shadows outside my bedroom window from jacaranda trees that often swayed in the wind and caught in the lights in the lawns, threw these swaying shadows onto my walls when the drapes were not drawn.

But I also loved watching the waning moon through the lace curtains, which meant I'd either go for drapes drawn or creepy shadows allowed in!

Thanks for the excellent review and for your perspective on the poem, it's always interesting to get people's take on it, and find all the tangents that take off from these images. Interesting indeed. estory

Hi estory, you call it a surreal poem, but I don't think it is. Dreams are like that. They often come in crazy fragmented patterns and sometimes we remember some of those fragments and more often we don't. It's the brain's way of dealing with our life and making sense of it all. In other words a healing process and a healthy one. Although we're not aware of it. I liked your free verse poem a lot. All the best. Ulla:))

A very well-written free verse poem. Sometimes we dream something and we cannot remember everything, it can be very frustrating, and we wish we could fill inthe missing pieces.

You did an excellent job describing the abstract. It's interesting that it is all one dream. I could picture even hear some of your descriptions. For instance the lightning and clouds. I would be frightened by the figures in the sand. I would not be fond of that image. Overall, great job. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your perspective on the poem. I am glad you found it so moving. This one was a scary dream. An apocalyptic kind of dream. Unsettling, I would say. The imagery was so powerful I still remember it to this day. I'm glad I was successful in making it come alive for so many readers. estory

"Pieces of a Dream", is an extremely well-written and deftly descriptive piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. You KEEP WRITING and I'll KEEP READING. I look forward to seeing your next post.

So appreciate the five star review and the encouraging comments and support for my work. I hope you continue to enjoy it. This one was kind of different from what I normally write, in some ways. The fragmented format, the abstract imagery, those are kind of hallmarks. But I don't do a lot of apocalyptic pieces. estory

Vivid fragments! I'm sure someone will try to interpret them for you! You have achieved a sense of that tantalising feeling as one tries to recapture the imagery that was so real at the time.

This is quite definitely, an epiphany. All the signs are there, both realms have this ability, but one malevolent, this is in no way like that. Thanks for sharing this with us, it is so important to share the esoteric, it may not be understood by many, but I certainly do. Beautifully done, blessings, Roy

Thanks so much for the excellent review and for your perspective on the poem. This was an apocalyptic dream. A dream of some catastrophy, that I think God revealed to me, that might be on the way. At the time, I interpreted it to mean that New York would be destroyed in a sunami some day. But there are many interpretations. God bless. estory

The poem is in fact a dream, seems dream, looks dream. How Situation changes , how nature is hard , how an unseen hand and window appears. How Thunder storm in the sea , flash of lighting, voices and shadow are intermingled. A true dream, of a person Who either is living too much in harmony with nature and life or is living a very disturbed and problematic life. Both paradoxical situations represent unconscious where unseen danger prevails, but there is a helping hand too who can control all these and a hope like a face shining among trouble and turmoil.

The poem comprises elements of surprise and awe. In dreams usually nature is ferocious, where an individual is in struggle to escape and to cope the situation.
In this dream like poem , though such struggle is not present, but there is crowd, voices, thunder, shadow , unseen footsteps, sea, turmoil , figures sinking in the sand, represent too many situations like flashback .Interpretations might be different , but there is a hope , a savior ,a redemption at the end.
Language is simple , choice of words is good.

I appreciate your perspective on the poem, I think you got mostly what I was trying to say. My work is generally abstract, I try to create situations that can relate to many people, that people can interpret in different, personal ways. This poem was kind of apocalyptic, a vision of catastrophy and a warning of what may be to come. And the door to an escape. estory
