Hi Diane, I can tell that this isn't just a random story about the tooing and throwing of a mother/ daughter relationship trying to guide themselves through the baking of an apple pie.
This to me is more personal, the feeling and vibe from the dialogue is based through emotional memories of yesteryear. The excitement of the child and the controlled navigation of the mother brings the story to life, terrific imagery which paints a fantastic picture of the relationship between Mum, dad and child......excellent
But one thing....cheddar cheese with apple pie....what's that all about?....it's almost as bad as peanut butter and Jam (jelly)... you Americans really do Ike to mix your food up..ha ha

Hah! I would liken apple pie with cheddar cheese to BEANS ON TOAST! Goodness! What is THAT all about? :)
My mother was an incredibly opinionated, strong, and forceful woman...the final throes of dementia and Parkinson's disease compounded those qualities. I hope that that is not my Creator's plans for my final exit; just heartbreaking for all concerned...

You painted a picture of what family members experience when elderly parents are alone after the death of their partner and s/he has dementia. Good job and best wishes. Jan

This was a really tough write for me.
My mother was a three-person assist in a nursing home for five years following living in an assisted home setting for two years following my father's death. She suffered from Parkinson's disease and dementia. To witness her physical, mental and emotional demise... no words can adequately describe the tragedy of it all...
