Hello Kahpot, love the words and the art in this one, and isn't it good we can have a say, even if it is different from others. I love that about a democracy. I hope a bit percentage of you get to the polling booths and exercise that right to vote. We get a huge fine if we don't get our tukus to the polling booth, so there's a big turn out with sausage sizzles on voting day (pig in a blanket) Downunder, lol
By the sound of your poem, if this is about America, you're not impressed, that comes out loud and clear, and the art choice is perfect for that sentiment. There are a lot of poems from Americans about American politics atm. For me, I think Americans are just realizing what the rest of the world has known for some time, heh heh Too funny, but there has been a shift in power happening. America isn't what she once was and an emerging China is looking more and more powerful from a market point of view and they're becoming richer and richer. And Europe and England have always chugged along on their own way as a group, and are keyed up about the Brexit, so Trump and American politics aren't as big for non-Americans they once were. From an outsider's point of view looking in, if this is indeed about America, it feels like a first world nation with a third world nation growing inside of it, and if it keeps going on, one day it may implode. Not nice, I admit, but that makes it all the more important for Americans to vote and get their own affairs in order, and I think that should include getting out of other countries sovereign territories and ceasing to act like World policemen. There is a big wide world outside of America. I've visited America several times and travelled overseas quite a lot as I have lots of relatives in other countries.
Just me having my say on your very thought provoking poem, which I would recommend for others to review, cheers, Anastasia.

Your poem maybe short but it says much. It is true, we are often deceived. Excellent use of words that is relevant to today's world and makes the reader think. You say much in few words.

Perfect 5'7'5 poem, perfect syllable count across all lines.
I loved that it rhymed, good use of slant rhyme with millions.

Exactly! They are magicians, aren't they? Excellent rhyme throughout this well formatted piece. The syllable count was correct. The rhyme was great. The image and content shared a complete thought that is viable and very timely... when people reference the light of politicians, little do they know they are actually referencing the dwindling of a society by said politicians. They hold the key to progress in their hands and choose to waste the gift. So very sad.
Excellent entry that I do believe will fare well in the contest. So, I won't wish you good luck, I'll just congratulations now :) Hehe

They do seem intent on deceiving us all, but I found the negative ads in this last election so disgusting that the choice of senator was not difficult at all. Claire McGaskill lost in Missouri, and I'm sure it was due to her horrible, obviously fake ads against her opponent. Maybe these wicked magicians are losing their touch?
