Hello Friend,
GAWD! Words cannot adequately express this horrific murder. And as I read the news yesterday, the story becomes even more convoluted and horrific.
Your four line poem certainly does bring the situation to the forefront - graphically so... What a world...

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Diane. What a world indeed. The most astounding thing is that the Saudis assumed (perhaps rightly) that they would suffer no real consequences for this brutal and unbjustified murder of one of their own citizens.

Sadly and disgustingly your words ring true. The murdered him to silence him but also as a warning, terrorize, others that may speak, write, criticism of those in power.
I think there is a poem on power and freed coming out of this.

Relevant and simple. One risks his life going against powerful people. The syllables are on point of course. I think you will do great in the contest.

Thank you. Maybe not a particularly suitable form for the viciousness of the crime, but I see it rather like a political cartoon which can draw attention to serious matters by using humour. I suspect this will not be considered suitable for a reward in the judging, but that's OK - I just wanted to put it out there.

Ah, so that's what a bone saw looks like. I'll be just as happy if I never see one again. A nice, timely entry for this odd contest.
Is a 1-5-5-9 really a thing?
Anyway, I like your cutting humor.
Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

I believe they come in different shapes and sizes, but yes, not a tool you want to hear your surgeon calling for.

No, like quite a few of the 'forms' they throw at us, the 1-5-5-9 would not be recognized outside of our little community.

As to the event that prompted this, I am beyond disgusted. As I suspected, the chief perpetrators will get a slap on the wrist while one or more scapegoats will pay for international outrage. Meanwhile, the sheer brazenness of the act says more than anything about the world we live in where no one dares stand up to these butchers in case they lose a business deal or push up the price of gas.

This poem made me giggle, especially the end line. I liked the picture, it said so much. This sort poem with it's deadly message was very well thought out. Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing.

Love this poem! So humorous! Definitely gave me a chuckle! I enjoy reading fantasy books in my spare time and always feel grateful that's not me when characters are punished by the monarch!

So sorry! It sounds like I was unintentionally insensitive. Thanks for the welcome to Fanstory.
