Good job with your contest entry, Bill. The picture is perfect with your few syllables (as required). I enjoyed reading it and wish you the best. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Love the newest subject! This one is a handsome and rather noble looking fellow but I was so surprised when I traveled to Louisiana in my younger years to see this poor guys all over the road.

Yes they can't decipher that road-crossing code.

Hi Bill. Armadillos are so cute when they ball up and play dead. I guess their shells protect them pretty well. Seeing goats flop and play dead is so funny. Check it out. Thank you for sharing

Lol. Well, having lived in Texas for six years, I can attest to that - they are often found legs straight up. But in Houston they disappeared right away. Don't know if people like "grilled meat" there more than here.

Hooray! Armadillos! I think they are some of the most interesting little night critters around -- course they're very destructive, too, but they look so cool!! :) :) Your write here is quite hilarious....this from someone who lives where there are many and, of course, there's ALWAYS ones who couldn't cross the road! :) ;) This is a great entry! :) :) Thanx for sharing and good luck in the contest! :) :)

Well of course he can't cross the road, he is wearing a heavy metal raincoat. Not only is he built like a tank, he probably weighs as much as a small tank which makes crossing the road against traffic all but impossible.

The armadillo truly is a darling little critter, and man I would be steering clear of the claws.

Pity they are with all that armour still unable to cross the road.

Excellent and most unique entry into the contest. I wish you great luck with the Contest Committee.

Armadillos are cute, but they don't get across the road very well, that's true. Even their armor can't protect them from cars and trucks. Good alliteration.

They lay flat on the side of the road down Texas way like the possums and raccoons do where I live.

We have a lot here in Arkansas. I remember when I first saw one here in the 80s. I was amazed because they didn't use to come this far north.

I was wondering what your next animal selection would be. Great alliteration in your second line. Fun line about the armadillo even though plated still can't cross the road. Your syllable count conforms to the contest requirements. The word itself provides lots of syllables. Best of luck in the contest. judi

Why did the chicken cross the road? Do prove to the armadillo it could be done.
