OH, I love giraffes so much. Your first line has that internal rhyme and it works so well. Your oil painting is another stunner! Your second line, "stands in front of mom's dark spots" was precious. It tells the story of your artwork perfectly.

Thank you Cindy. What?s not to like about gentle giraffes? Thanks for the great review

The spots are meant to camouflage the giraffe against the bush background of its habitat. I nevere thought of it working this way as well though. The whole of this 5-7-5 is an aha moment. Lol.

So, it is a haiku? I was not sure the satori was strong enough. Thanks for a great review
-
Probably not because the aha is not confined to the last line but relies on the earlier lines and the picture for that mater.

A very well-written 5-7-5 poem. Babies and the young animals always feel most comfortable when their mothers are nearby. They will seldom cry and just needs the mother's presence.

Thank you Dolly for another lovely review
Comment from Anntonette
This is very neat! Camouflaging is a great and safe way to hide from their predators. The mother is also protecting the baby giraffe. Thanks for sharing yet another great work!

Love this! I love these 3 line poems of yours! I know I've said it before, but it's so true! "In front of mom's dark spots" -- so good! And giraffe calves are so precious, aren't they? The zoo near me just had one earlier this summer! Soooo cute! I love the warm, safe feeling this poem creates! Thanks for sharing!

Very cool! I like how your junior giraffe does look so content and peaceful. It's amazing how fast the baby giraffes are able to stand and I like how you contrast the different shades of the spots!

Giraffes are such an elegant, beautiful animal and your word give a lovely image of a girunor (that's a new word for me) in it's Mother's shadow.
Excellent 5-7-5
Gorgeous picture
