Good consistent use of your chosen rhyme scheme. Is this a take on the little red riding hood story? It doesn't have many of the elements, but I noticed the little girl in the woods, howling wolves, and the cloak made by grandma.

So, you live in the States? Why? NZ is a beautiful country, I have visited both islands, love the south best. Yes, Americans eat too much food. Unfortunately, the fattest place in the world! Love, Kace. XX

My husband's an American and we live in Kentucky and love it. I miss my family most

Kentucky bourbon? Hee, Hee. Hope you get to travel home occasionally. XX :-)

HI Kace, as a kid it was one of my favorite holidays Sweetie Pie...as I got older I loved seeing all the kids dressed up and tricker treating...now the kids don't come out like they used to...most parents have private parties to stay on the safe side...and I do understand that...to many crazies out there now...I love your story told you...and the perfect picture...very well written...love you lots...Linda xxoo

Hello Barbara, Thanks for telling me about the kids going from house to house for treats. Did you like my poem?
-
Yes I sure did!
-
You did a real good job on your poem even without knowing much about our custom you nailed it!

A very good contest entry Kay, good luck. It created little shivers of desperation and fear, great writing and adventure. So if I may ask what do Australians for Oct. 31? Thanks for sharing.

Hello my friend, Some kids dress up. I don't think they know what it's about! Thank you for your review. Blessings, Kay.

You are so welcome Kay. I know several years ago, some of the churches tried to get it banned here, all I could think was they would rather deal with evil than providing a way for children to have a night of fun and protection from evil.
-
I don't think a lot of people know the real reason for Halloween?
-
I agree that is so true.
-
I thought I answered this? The kids buy costumes, don't go house to house, too dangerous. The real meaning of Halloween is pagan. XXK.

Your poem reads like a movie as the little girl is walking through the forest. you have vivid descriptions of what she encounters. I like the line that describes the lit pumpkins grinning.

Love it! Halloween is a special time for my family. You encapsulated the time of year and have nice imagery of Fall and scariness of that time of year as well.
Well done!

Super good job, K. I was fascinated with your Halloween poem in a story right from the outset. Your metre and rhymes terrific and the ending is a great trick.
I wish you much luck with the Contest Committee with this gem. :)
