Lol. I wondered how in the world that expression (when pigs fly) took off and started a life of its own. Good use of that satori line to bring the unexpected cause of the tourbillon. (seems like a straight borrowing from French.)

Thanks so much, Helen. Yes, I believe it comes direct from the French. Cheers, Craig

What a fun haiku and pigs are going to fly in that hullabaloo barring any plane trips available.

Great job friend Craig and excellent wishes to you with the contest committee.

Thanks very much, Gloria -- most grateful. I'm trying to start a new fad - comedy haikus. I think, just like our friend, Babe, there in the picture, it might take off!

I've always heard 'when pigs fly.' Your haiku is fun to read and coupled with the picture it is hilarious. Now we have whirlwinds all the time but thankfully no pigs drop out of the sky. Good job and best wishes. Jan

Well, I just hope if flying pigs are a real thing, they don't have "digestive issues", if you get my drift! Many thanks, Jan :)

Yeah -- that's just the smile I needed this evening! :) :) And you've just 'prettied & pinked' it up so well it makes the reader smile all the more! :) ;) A fun entry, sir -- thanx for that grin! :) ;) Yvette :)

"Tourbillion," I like it. I wonder who first said, "if pigs could fly." I'll have to look that up. This is a fun entry for the contest using the word of the day and the super image in this well-worded poem. Marilyn

Thanks for the lovely comments, Marilyn. My other half has a different saying, something to do with Aunts and Uncles. Cheers, Craig

A very well-written humorous 5-7-5 about the farmyard animals that seems to become flying pigs when a big whirlwind picked them up from the ground. Great picture to complement your poem.

Haha ... if the winds are strong enough we can fly too. This is a fun Haiku, Craig, and the picture is priceless. Good luck in the contest with this little gem, and thanks for teaching me yet another new word.

Cheers,
Connie

Thanks so much, Connie for the great review. I don't think I want to fly -- not with an aircraft, not without! Cheers, Craig

Craig, This is a very well written haiku poem you have penned for the contest. You used very good descriptive words and a very cute picture of a pig flying! It all goes together very much! Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Thanks, Teri, for the lovely review. I think haikus are meant to be serious, deep and meaningful. Oh well, maybe next time ;-)

-An appropriate image for your poem, Craig.
-Thanks for sharing the word of the day.
-The imagery is effective, and
describes this unusual farmyard.
-Not every farm gets a tourbillion of
this magnitude that causes pigs to fly!
-Good luck in the contest.

The worst I've ever seen on our little farm is dust-devils, thank goodness. Thanks for the kind review, Pam. Craig
