Congratulations, June, on your second-place finish in the sedoka poem contest! You came though with excellent imagery and clever alliteration. I particularly like "soup simmers on the stove" (although, it could be because I particularly like soup).

Appropriately warm regards,

Don

Thanks, Don. It's been unusually cold this week in New Englaand - unseasonably so. Making Chicken soup tonight for sure! Appreciate your dropping by to read and review.

This Sedoka poem, On a Cold Winter Night, has the correct formatting and brings the reader from the chilling elements into the "cozy cottage" to compare environments.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

You met the requirements of the 5-7-7 stanzas (even if using "fire" as a two-syllable word was stretching it a bit). What made me give you the six-star rating was the perfect way in which you approached a cold night from two different directions, creating the feel of a frigid night outdoors in the first stanza, and the coziness of spending that frigid night indoors with a warm fire and a pot of soup in the second stanza. I enjoyed this very much.

It looks like you followed the contest requirements. I think this is the first Sedoka poem i have reviewed. You chose a nice graphic to accompany your poem. Good luck in the contest.

I do so much love these short poems and this one is filled with atmosphere. I come from a place where fire is two syllables too, but I must admit to using it as one if the situation requires. lol

Excellent sedoka and much luck to you in the booth.

Hello Mystery Writer!
I so appreciate the sentiments expressed in your well-executed Sedoka. The visual and emotive imagery is strong, but they also resonate with me because I share your sentiments on what to do when temperatures and dropping and northern Michigan winds are howling.
Best wishes in the contest!
Lovely poem.
