I put two and two together on this one. Maybe Bitsy insisting she sleep on your head has something to do with things. Dogs DO have an uncanny ability to be healers. That is a SUPER LONG RUN ON SENTENCE., especially hard to navigate with the missing commas. THe above comma suggestions would fix it but it is still overly long, so I suggest breaking it into two or three sentences. Example:
He insisted that a loving puppy would always be a very positive. His daughter actually had a new teacup Yorkie that had to be given up due to bad, almost dangerous, behavior of their very young son. He wondered if I might make a visit and see if something good might be worked out for both of us.
