Hallway people are the best. I can certainly identify with being just another one in the crowd. But I had some of the greatest friends. I thought that this was in interesting topic to write about. You never would think to refer to this part of the population hallway people. But then it makes so much sense. A great write!

Well, it took me about 25 years to get and copy my senior yearbook and I was really put off with, "There are jocks, freaks, and preppies; then there are the others.

That was what inspired this poem, as I lost another senior I wanted in my life for the rest of it and she was struck and killed by a drunk drivers... It was the others that helped me through it and gave me the will to live. I thank you very much for reviewing this. -Mike

Hi, Mike,

Another excellent piece. Those times in high school were traumatic. I chose to NOT go to school most of the time. Somehow, I managed to maintain a great GPA, but only because I went when we were having tests, and I read the textbooks on my own.

I didn't go to school for exactly the reasons you site in the poem. I didn't fit in, and I was bored out of my mind,

I was known as the academic smartass as I barely got by with what was being taught, yet would get straight A's when I found something new and interesting. Very often high achievers want to be educated and challenged and conflicts arise when they are placed lower than the should be.

My boredom stopped when I discovered photography. I thank you very much for this review.

Enjoyed this. I am not so used to the American educational system, but let me assure you, the psychology is very much the same, though some words are changed to protect the innocents.

There is a process, and each group experience difference according to influence.

I recognise much of what you write here.
Liked it.
My best wishes.

this is another great poem reflecting our school days,
its not great to be bullied and teased but glad to see you found some true loyal friends gathered in the hallway that have the spirit of compassion.

great job

How great that you connected with hallway friends! I like this point for the Memories, but I like it more for the overall feeling. When you look back, things often seem different, especially when your friends tell you how they saw the past, how they saw you. The overall impression I get from this point is that you are grateful for your friends and they are grateful for you. This is beautiful.

Hello Mike,
An excellent and interesting free verse poem.
School is certainly a time and age of clicks and groups,
insiders and outsiders, and sometimes nosiders.
The hallway people are the group of ungroupies.
These groupings often continue on throughout life, too.
Isn't it interesting to learn later in life
how important the hallway group really was?
Excellent poem
Robert

Hello again Mike, a sympathetic free verse, some rhyme, about the trials and tribulations that occur at school in the process of growing up. You encounter all sorts of people and you learn that school is not just about classroom learning but adjusting and learning how to cope with life outside of the classroom. You have done this well. A good read. Warm regards Dorothy

A very well-written poem about being an outsider in a group of people where we simply don't fit in. When we grow and become adults we create our own groups where we feel comfortable and allow the ones we like to be part of our group.

YEP HALLWAY PEOPLE WE ALL BECOME AND NEVER REALIZE IT TILL LATER YEARS IN OUR LIFE. WE DON'T BELONG IN ANY GROUP BUT WE ARE GROUPED TOGETHER THERE FOR A WHILE.

I enjoyed this review and thank you for it. My big thing at school was photography and in a way, it forced me to stand apart from people and I really got comfortable with my own skin.
