I really enjoyed reading this. It sounds typical of my trips to DIY stores with my husband - minus the laughter! You've perfectly captured the male penchant for never asking where something is. They'd rather go home empty handed that ask for help. Nice writing style and use of words. Looking forward to reading more from you.

This is so sweet and funny! Cheered my day! This is happened to my husband and me so many times, I've lost count. I love to go to Lowe's because it feels like a date these days. It's romantic to stroll among the wood and smell the pine scent. Call me crazy? Probably so! I enjoyed this so much!
All my best,
Sal

Hello Sal!
So very pleased my experience resonated with you. Good Lord! We surely had a good laugh. Glad to know other couples have the same kind of experiences. My husband and I truly have good times doing just simple things.
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review!

This story was very sweet, light and enjoyable. I liked the banter between the husband and wife and the Lowe's associates. This reminds me of the adventures that my Husband and and I have been on. And I can relate! I really did enjoy this read! I'm so glad that the best friend from the title is the husband. It made it much more sweet. And relatable. Very well written!

How adorable is this write? I think it tickled me because my husband and I have been stars in our own "locate the retail item" drama more times than I can count. It's gotten so now, every time we enter any store larger than a convenience store, my Edward says "Don't lose me--don't leave my sight!"--and we have a chuckle, as you did, over the way retail associates will describe where an item is..."LW-21" indeed! Easy for THEM to say!

This was such a delightful story to read, one we can all identify with. I don't often read your posts (maybe I really should boomark you, huh?) but I'm certainly glad I found time to read this one.
Nothing in the writing that I could critique. Excellent.

What a kind review!
Hello apky!
So pleased you enjoyed!
I write both poetry and prose, but my prose is usually of the non-fiction variety about my family, musings about my career as an educator, and my own experiences.
I joined FanStory in 2007, and I was active on the site for four years, but then I took a long hiatus, and I only just recently returned on a more consistent basis in January.
Thank you again for your excellent rating and complimentary review!
Do stop by again!

I certainly will. I actually became a member in 2017, and started posting my works here.

Hi, Diane,
Oh my. Your adventures with Lar sound like some of the things Dave and I do. Luckily, he will be working a lot of hours over the next few months, so there aren't any house projects on the horizon - for him. I have a contractor coming out to put insulation under my floor.
Thank you for sharing your enjoyable story,
~MP~

Hello Patty!
The house project begins today: replacing two rotten sliding French doors and repairing a leaking chimney! I have chili and cornbread duty!
Thank you for your excellent rating and complimentary review!

Hi, Diane Were it not for the fact that I have to spread my sixes around a bit more, you would definitely get a six for this prose. I did not know you were talented in prose as well as poetry.
It is a delicious mixture of humor and the human condition.
My wife is the carpenter and fixer-upper at our house. I am the cook.
Bless you, Take care. Bob

Hello Bob!
Oh! This is/was a humorous diversion...something that I wanted to remember and something I thought folks might enjoy with so much negativity surrounding our lives...
Not to sound off, but I've actually written a number of prose pieces that have even won/received recognition this year on this site: "Learning Curves," "We Will Rebuild," "To Find My Voice." Who knew? :) (But my favorite piece is about my father entitled "Better Than Any Train Ride."
So pleased you enjoyed!
Thank you!

Love the way you have developed this anecdote. Real men don't ask for directions! LOL I'll spend ages looking for an item in a hardware store rather than asking someone where it is. Bizarre behaviour, huh?

Hello Tony!
Just a humorous slice of my life... Wanted to share and bring a bit of levity to the foreground since so much negativity is rampant these days...
So pleased you enjoyed!
Thank you!

Men can be so funny at times when they insist they know what they are doing when we know different it is a live and learn process with them we have to play the game with them so they think it was their idea.

I know this started out as serious, Mrs. KT, but it was hilarious. I enjoyed the way you described what should have been a normal outing to Lowes. Those coded number seemed easy, but who knew what you and your husband would find. Your story had good flow and was fun to read. Thanks for sharing. Jan
