This is a fun Tanka for Halloweeen and even more poignant that you dedicated it to 'Boo' the ghost who pops up every now and then with an offering for us, I wish you luck with the contest, love Dolly x

-Good image and presentation.
-It's nice to take up a
challenge once in a while.
-I like your introductory prose
section, describing your challenge.
-The syllable count is good.
-A good image in line two.
-A good tanka for the contest;
good luck.

You are very welcome, Sal. I am glad Boo liked it, too. Good you got to keep your head in the deal!
Comment from Ogden
Hmm. No fingerprints. You were clever to notice that. It does sound like the work of a spook. And, what's more, you have another fan who won't vote!
(It was brave of you to take on your first tanka.)

This is a very nice Halloween Tanka contest entry. I love this time of year with leaves of many colors falling to the ground and the looks on children's faces as they plot what costume will be the scariest. My best to your ghost muse, Boo. Good luck in the contest.

We can only hope so. Boo is a good friend, but I don't know what has gotten into him. He left the site for a while and now that he's back he's coherent. He never was before. I think someone or something has taken over Boo's body.

Thank you so much for your review. Boo has already chimed in to let me know my head was safe. It was a close call!

I like this and I'm sure Boo will too. Tanka poetry seems a little difficult to me, but I usually dont count syllables when I write. I think you did a great job and I liked the explanation in the beginning. Best of luck in the contest.

lol, Hello there, my friend. this is an adorable little prose and Tanka. It's fun and filled with humor. I see this is your first one. In a Tanka the middle line has to be a pivotal line, meaning:
-it completes the first 3 lines (which it did)
-it must start the last 3
so the top 3 has to be able to stand alone
and, the bottom three have to stand alone
with that middle line interconnecting tying them together
Tempted me he did!
The ghastly apparition--
lost his head it seems.
-------------------
lost his head it seems.
But, All Hallows' Eve will come,
at midnight he will expire!

I like the cteative way you started your poem with a verb. It draws interest! The story set a stage for this perfect Halloween poem. Its a fun kind of spooky and I hope it does well in the contest!

A very well-written Tanka for Boo. He is quite a ghostly creature that likes to challenge others with many things he suppose we can do even if we did not do it ever before. Surprisingly we can meet the challenge like there was an invisible hand helping us to complete the challenge.
