After reading this very well alliterated poem I would say your muse is definitely back again. I rarely go onto Facebook but the comparison to the witch trials is very apt I'd say. Good to see your name come up again Wendy, even though I'm late getting to it.
cheers,
valda

Hello Pearl, nice to see you are still here. I appreciate the sixth and hope to jump in on a regular basis after the leaf changing season ends and the stream of guests slows down. Looking forward to lots of catching up. - Wendy

Hi Wendy. Welcome back. I missed reading your work. You have picked a "hot" time to come back to comment on the hateful mob who is destroying civility. I haven't gone onto FB in ages. It is a one-way street with that antisocial media. The vileness posted will surely end badly. Marilyn

Hello Marilyn, I have missed you all too. Too busy, too tired to write and read and I needed a bit of a break . . .which turned into a year. I hope to get back in the habit. October is the busiest for me, but I will dive into the read and review as soon as the leaves have all fallen off the trees. Thanks for the review. - Wendy

Hi, Wendy - good to see you back aboard. Let's hope you don't get seasick!

Interesting form - a kind of blank verse sonnet, although with 12 syllables per line rather than 10 and just the occasional hint of a rhyme...

The emotive words and images explode with some of the anger you obviously feel. Facebook can certainly make you feel that way - it is the perfect outlet for hate-mongers and -ists of all kind. However, if you can wade through all the muck with your eyes shut and avoid being drawn in, there is a lot of good stuff there too.

Metaphors may get a little mixed in stanza 2, but apart from this I love the passion and power of your message.

Steve

Hello Steve. Glad to see you are still here. As to the format, the words and phrases just kind of tumbled out in the 12 syllable form and when I realized it needed breaking up, I ended up with two extra lines. Not trying to be a sonnet, not trying not to be one. As to the rhyme, well, I just can't help myself. Love the sixth but mostly I'm glad you liked the result as your opinion is one I truly respect. Got a book out yet? - Wendy

Hi, Wendy. Yes, I did really like this.

And yes, I did get my book finished earlier this year. It's just a tiny volume of about 30 poems - some of my more serious ones. It;s called "Life Love and Other Disasters" and it's on Amazon if you want to take a peek. Not selling at all any more after the initial flush. I don't have the time or energy to do promotion etc and no confidence to advertise on FanStory like some others have taken to doing.

I am planning another one called "Forty-Four Fabulous Funnies" but again I need time to collate it and organise it, even though the poems are already written. One day!

Hooray for you. I have finally completed my writings on my book, "Just Like Me From "A" To "Z". That I did the rough drafts as part of the NAPO stuff 2 April's ago. Illustrator working on the 26 illustrations. Hope to have something early next year. I am with you about the promotion stuff. I am so bad about the follow up once the writing is done. True artist's temperament, right? I will not only head over to Amazon to take a peek, but will be added to your October sales list. Love what you do too much not to start a collection.

It didn't use to be this way. Too many think that all manner of ignorance is acceptable to justify their viewpoint. What are these behaviors teaching children I wonder? Great poem, such a shame it had to be written, but you did it wonderfully.
Blessings...

Oh...I love your topic and can so relate to the distaste of the political bashing happening on social media right now. I have to limit myself to only so much. Your poems clever words were very well-written!

I think social media is a place where people vent and get rid of their anger on others, I don't even go there! To be among the poets is a much more tranquil ride, your pome is shocking reality, love Dolly x

I never heard your former poetic voice, but I will bargain that you found your poetic voice again! This is so spot-on it's unbelievable. You expressed the drama of the situation, the severity of it, without sounding hateful or hopeless. Nice writing for sure! I love your use of vocabulary.

Hello Tina, I have been away awhile and it is nice to see a new name. I have written a lot on FS, but it usually has a gentler tone - and if you choose to take a peek at my portfolio, you will find I am an unrepentant rhyme and rhythm lover. But some times I just have to let go and dip my toe into the unrhymed pool. You might note that the rhythm remained consistent since old habits are hard to break :] - Wendy

    I just now went back
    and read the poem again
    and you are right there
is a sing song Rhythm to it,
and I like it! I honestly
    have not posted that much
poetry but I do tend to be
    rhythmic, and mostly
    rhyming although like you
    I sometimes play around
    with not rhyming.
Congrats on a great comeback poem!

Hi Wendy, couldn't agree more with the sentiments of your words, an excellent piece of writing that flows effortlessly. A gutsy write that has me doffing my cap.

A very well-written poem about the influence of social media on people that use it as a platform to spew hatred and divides people in many ways, Sometimes we get attacked by someone we don't even know.
