LOL ... I can think of better things to be disguised as. Thanks for teaching me another new word. "umbratical" ... I'm going to try and remember this one.

I love the humor. I love the queries. Well done, Craig!

Hugs,
Connie

A very well-written poem about the hydrant that is like an under cover cop always ready to react when urgent action I'd needed. Unfortunately, it cannot move away when Rover comes around.

Thanks so much, Sandra. Indeed, very unfortunate for the cop. Cheers, Craig

Okay -- this was the smile I needed to start the week off! Absolutely love the personification of the hydrant imagining himself to be a cop -- great job, sir! :) :) Thanx for sharing! :) :) Yvette

Alright, I'll admit that I have not had my coffee, but that's not a real fire hydrant? There's an undercover cop in there? I feel so stupid. I must be missing something.
Or, the notion of hiding a cop in there is ingenious. He's probably watching potential terrorist houses. I love this. The possibilities are endless. Who would suspect? Not me, obviously.

So now you see how my brain works without caffeine. This poem has done the job though. I'm awake now just thinking about umbratical police work. I think that I even used it as an adjective. Nice work.

You certainly did. Thanks so much, Debbie. Having grown up on "Get Smart", it didn't seem at all strange to me he should be hiding inside a fire hydrant ;-) Most grateful -- Craig

Thanks for the great comments, Mitchell. I'm glad you enjoyed. The poem came first, and I was quite surprised to find there was no shortage of images to go with it. Many thanks, Craig :)

Lets all pray rover leaves his leg down. Interesting take on a undercover cop. I find it to be quite satirical. The the point is not lost in the prose. I like the use of a fire hydrant

This work has reached the exceptional level

I can't help but give 6 stars because it's so wonderful in many ways. Its humorous but not forced to be. It seems like a natural conversation. I would have never thought to speak from the perspective of a fire hydrant LOL! You set the bar high for new poets, or poets in training, like me. I am thankful for high bars:)
