Tina, this is a good entry for the 2-4-2 poem contest. I like the clever play on words with foxtrot. A very valid and important message to adhere to. One that every chick need bear in mind. Best of luck in the competition. ~DD

Hello Tina Crut
I will say you have a humorous way of telling us in only eight words chicken don't have four legs
so no way they can do a Fox Trot
so beware baby chicks of the clever fox

I've lost chickens to foxes, one time I even saw one being taken, and couldn't get to it in time. Terrible thing. And yet, foxes aren't "evil", they simply want to survive as every being does. Typically short-sighted humans introduced them to this country for sport, and now try to eradicate them.
All of that is rather bleak, and not at all in keeping with your poem, which is quite fun. I hope the adorable little chicks in the photo manage to steer well clear of four-legged hens.

I see what you mean, this point paint a funny picture, but only if you don't think about the truth of it LOL.
Animals do what is born in them to do, so I promise I won't blame the cute little foxes :-) thank you so much for this for you and I'm glad that you thought it was fun. It makes me happy to hear that it made someone smile or laugh.

This was very clever. I love your association of foxes with the foxtrot, and warning the silly chicks of four-legged hens. Well done. I hope you did well in the contest.

Thank you so much! Im I haven't heard anything about who won but thanks for your best wishes. I'm not planning on a win, except for the win of having people like my work, and me getting to learn! Thanks again for the stars:)

Okay...thank you for clarifying you are using the British one syllable pronunciation as my very first thought was "hey--that's a 2-5-2 poem! (LOL)-----This is a short but cute poem which conjured a smile -- Mom's are just naturally witty!

Witty...and protective, lol! I'm really not sure what the official pronunciation is, because people just seem to say it whichever way they were taught growing up I think. Thank you so much for the review! I'm glad it made you smile!

Both are acceptable--seems in the USA most say legg-ed and in Britain most say (one syllable) legged. Either way you would have been right! (smile)

I have learned that I need to be very careful, because
my girls tell me I
pronounce a lot of things
wrong, LOL. For example,
the word striped... I
pronounce that
With two syllables and
they think it's hilarious!

Your 2-4-2 Poetry contest entry is humorous, witty and gives good advice. If we followed the same instincts as our animal friends, maybe we'd be better off. They say "a watched pot never boils". Maybe that's true for everyone. The enemy won't attack if we're on guard. Best wishes.

You have given me something to think about! My mom used to say that all the time about the watched pot. She died when I was pretty young, but she taught me so many old country sayings. Sometimes they come out of my mouth and I'm talk to my girls and I don't even realize where they came from LOL. Like when something stinks, she used to say it stinks to high heaven :-) thank you so much for the review. I really appreciate it!

You are most welcome, Tina. Your in-depth reply is most appreciated.

Where there are baby chicken there is always danger around,
They look lovely, but danger is not wanted. The fox is around.
A little writing with a massive meaning and warning.
