One gets the feeling that the mysterious gardener with the grey streak in his hair, are about the same as the two sinister men asking if Fifi is for sale or not, and Charles tells them to bugger off, much to their chagrin. So the twosome are attracting attention, not sure why yet, because of their exploits I guess, well done, Tony, blessings, Roy

Enjoyed all your poetic descriptions, Tony. Would a French woman really come out in curlers? Somehow, I always imagine them as so stylish. Glad for the break from the childhood trauma story to a more touristy chapter, except for the mysterious snoopers.

Thanks, Helen. I've seen the older inhabitants of many parts of the world come out into their gardens in dressing gowns and slippers to retrieve milk and newspapers! I don't think France would be an exception to that!
It's interesting trying to balance Helen's backstory against the quest in France - some people seem to be enjoying the one, some the other!

This episode seemed to me to be dominated by that aful (though mildly funny) joke about the man going sideways through the doors. It was though typical of the stupid things that come intour minds before sleep claims us. I dread to think what has been done to Fifi, but the earlier model of Citroen referred to was the Traction Avant, an executive car way ahead of its time when first produced in 1934. The Slough version of the 11L was called the Light Fifteen and the long wheelbase 11 was called the Big Fifteen. There's another useless piece of information for you.
So the mysterious gardener with the white streak in his hair shows up. Something remarkable could happen next time either here in Giverny or possibly in Bangkok.

Interesting information about the old Citroens. We had one like that when I was growing up in Singapore in the 1950s - I'm not sure which one though.Strangely enough, I can still remember its number-plate, SF526 - less cars on the roads those days!

Funny about that number plate. I can remember my father's car's plate when I was 8 years old EAU683 but I can't member any of my own including the present one. Part of the aging process I imagine.

Yes, there may be danger lurking. Not sure yet if it is because of Charles's investigations or Helen's background. All may become clearer in time.

Very many thanks for your review, Sandra. I'm feeling a bit guilty that I haven't reviewed the last couple of chapters of your story yet. I'm certainly enjoying them! A difficult time at the moment, supporting my wife through the final days of her mother's life. I hope to get back into the routine again soon.
