No wonder, you are genius, i have been following your work through various prompts most of them you won, and this one's a winner too. I absolutely loved almost every word of it..
If your belief causes you to harm others, then your belief sucks.... Rightly said...

As far as I'm concerned, Michael, no one is more fair and tolerant than you. It's clear reading this you accept anyone's beliefs as long as they are good people. What more can we ask of each other. You have my vote. NG

The inexhaustible Michael Cahill. I do believe you could keep on and on and on.... because you believe in God. Our Father has a name you know. You also believe in the Son of God, Jesus Christ. He is in charge of our souls. Our spirit belong to the Father, the breath of life. I'm glad to read your write you always amaze me with your words of wisdom (don't let it go to your head.) :) I like your beliefs.

I love your worldview. Have you ever thought about being cloned, I know someone that might be able to help, hahaahaha

I so agree with so much of this, and it is refreshingly different for this writing prompt, and you don't resort to being too highbrow, defensive or vulgar, three pitfalls most people fall into when talking 'God'.

I laughed in places, but I also found some of your ideas that you get across with a sharp wit are actually quite deep, like this one:

God? Yep, I believe in God ... there is one. There could only be one. Anyone, therefore, who does believe, believes in the same one.

I have always thought faith was a mansion with a lot of rooms, and those rooms have been sectioned off by our differences in culture, amongst other things.

I noticed no errors and found this a very enjoyable read with a lot of great observations delivered in a clever and funny way. Cheers, Ana.

    Hi, Ana

I'm right on time, yes? LOL I'd hate to tell you how long I thought there were TWO wonderful Anastasias giving me exceptional and uplifting reviews. :)) I so appreciate your kind words and it looks like we're on the same page or at least in the same chapter of the book. I'm not sure the Earth would appreciate my being cloned, but what do they know? HAHA!! Thanks so much. mike

Mikey,

At our first contact, in the forums where the cool kids hang out, I was a bit wary of you.

You seemed to have an ear everywhere, knew everyone and also knew pretty much everything that was rumbling along beneath the surface here. And you always seemed willing (and brave enough) to share your thoughts and opinions on any topic. It was rather intimidating. *smile*

We slowly started talking and I began reviewing some of your pieces. My thoughts of you morphed a bit.

The biggest change came during those few conversations on TeamSpeak. I was so impressed with your soft-spoken wisdom and ready knowledge and people skills.

I liked you.

I don't 'preach' my faith, though I often discuss it in one-on-one situations. I LOVE to talk/discuss/debate topics. Love!!!

This post only solidified my opinions of you. You handled the topic well and I don't see how anyone could much argue-- though, of course, they will. Haha

Some thoughts:

1.)Indeedy do, there are a plethera of "Christians" (who) make me cringe
--> when speaking of a human, it's 'who'

2.) "And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love ...".
--> the final period is not needed

Thanks so much for a highly inspiring piece. Good luck!

Very well said. I would say there are many Christians who make me cringe as well. Some are not really Christians some are just human and rather stupid. I hope they grow and learn. The world loves to point out all our faults, but do they know what Christians really do? Do they know if not for Christians the homeless would indeed be hopeless. Do they know most volunteers are Christians? Do they know we are the first there in a disaster? Do they know we teach people to read, write, encourage them to get go college, we teach how to grow crops in lands were people starve, give clean water, supply ERs and have traveling med vans that helps 100's? I know many who do these things. They are amazing. Do they know or care that more Christians die for their faith today then ever in history? No, because it is never on the news and I think it might make many happy to hear it. Sadly, they know nothing about us but what is on the news and what a few might have done once. I'm glad you are a believer. Well done. Hope you do well in the contest and the author of it doesn't find yours to be BS. Can't believe he or she wrote that in the description of the contest. =} Rox

errors?-- He just did is for someone in a rocking chair falling asleep... metaphorically, what('s the?) difference? ... as I am wont (want?) to do.
Is this still up for vote and a completely different entry than at first? lol Lots of questions! Apologies!
We have very like minds when it comes to the beliefs which you shared here, nearly identical. Totally agree that actions speak loudest and feel it is a shame that being a Christian is almost embarrassing due to the behavior of so many who claim the title. I found it very interesting that, when combined with the rest, you also believe that there is only one god which everyone with their varying beliefs actually worships. I have often wondered if this is truly the case.

Michael, this is a wonderful statement of your beliefs. I applaud the message and the messenger. I don't believe as you do, but am most thankful for Christians like you. What turns me off on some Christians is when they say things like, "You're going to hell if you are a Buddhist or a Hindu." (Or whatever they perceive as being wrong.) That's BS and wrong teaching. And not very Christian. Lol. But, often, motivated by fear of the unknown, I think.
Anyway, good article.

Ha, this is great and not only because of the cute little cross-eyed kitty cat either. Your opening is catching and I for one, knew I wasn't going to be led into something long-winded about your beliefs, Mav. You stated it simply and as purely as it can be stated, I believe because I do and my motto is do no harm, and that is the hard part.

I love your clear, conversational style and I am wishing you much luck in the booths with this superb and honest entry.

I like how your thoughts evolved and morphed into some serious controversial stuff. This made this disertation, not boring. I like how you inserted the spiritual aspect and the behavior which indicated spirituality as opposed to religiosity. You zinged certain readers who might have thought they'd have time to doze off between your points you were so cleverly making. I like how in the end you actually left it open for anyone to believe anything they want, which is the crux, in addition to the ones you saw, it is the crux of your whole message. I really doesn't matter what people believe as long as they do not harm through judgement, verbal, physical, psychological, in the form of bullying, discrimination, exception, apathy, acts of hate etc. Very well expressed.
