Cruel that's what they are poor thing looks sad with leaves that are dry.
But not to worry they will return fast and thick and look even more beautiful so maybe cutting will have made them rich

Thank you, Anne. I had seeing tree hacked away for no good reason. I think they look sad, too.

You did a great job with your potlatch challenge rondel, Yvonne. The lines flow smoothly and the repeated lines fit in naturally. The rhymes are great, too. Your picture is perfect for your well=chosen words. As always, the meter is super. It reads very musically. Love the POV view of the maple tree. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Thank you for this wonderful review, and for keeping Potlatch going. I like the challenges it provides.

I love these French 'ron' poems. They adapt so well into English, particularly when given the iambic treatment. This is so much more of a pleasure to read than the example quoted on the club's pages, which follows the philosophy of this-is-a-French-poem-that-doesn't-do-metre-so-we-won't-either rule. We are writing in English and English is a very 'iambic' language.

Your personification of the tree is particularly poignant as it reminded me of those, particularly children who lose their tresses as a result of chemotherapy. This is one of your very best.

A six from you is worthy of hanging on my wall. Thank you so much, Jim. I truly appreciate it. To tell you the truth, I didn't think it was that good. lol.

I find it hard not to write in iambic.

A very well-written Rondel about the process of trimming the trees to make room for new growth in the coming Spring and so that the snow doesn't gather on the branches that put stress on the tree.

I hate to see trees clipped that way. I'm going to have mine topped off but not disturb its beautiful limbs. We don't have that much snow here. I was worried about strong winds. Thank you for reviewing and for the 'chat.'

A very nice poem. The flow was excellent! The presentation was fun, as was the poem. I love a bonsai tree, and so I enjoyed the subject. Telling the poem from the Maple Tree's perspective was a nice touch. Great job!

I LOVE Bonsai (though I must admit, it does seem a bit of a cruel practise...). That's actually exactly what I take away from your lovely rondel - the tree seems wistful, a little sad... Poor thing!

Thanks you, Dawn, for such a wonderful review. I never have luck with a Bonsai tree. I just wanted my big maple tree topped off. I was afraid it would topple over in strong winds. Plus, I just had my hair cut, came home and chopped on it myself, and had to go back for a rescue clip. I could sympathize with the tree. LOL

LOL. Put those scissors down! LOL. I used to cut my own hair all the time, but these days I'm too chicken, so I end up with cuts I don't like a lot... *sigh* It's nearly impossible to give any woman her BEST cut if you don't see her regularly, 'know' the hair. As for bonsai, I've never had one, just admired the ones belonging to others.

Damomy: beautiful poem about the maple now bonsai. Our maples are
changing colors of golds and yellows. I can't imagine trimming a huge
maple. Great use of rhymes and following the format of rhymes. Fun
poem for the challenge. flylikeaneagle

Thank you. I wouldn't ever trim my huge maple. I'm glad you feel the same way.

damommy: my maple is a five guy tree. My daughters had a party and five high schoolers climbed the maple. What's a mother to do???
I handed them some pop when they came down.
We had fifty teens in our back yard. Have fun with
    your family. flylikeaneagle - nancy

I hate it, too. I wanted to have my maple tree topped off to keep it from blowing over in strong winds. The man said he'd take 6-8 feet all around. Nope, I told him I wanted the top cut a bit.

How sad... I have to admit it though I love bonsai trees and love to get them from time to time but now I'm rethinking my love of this sweet art form as tree torture. thanks yours, diana

Awww, I didn't mean that. It was just cutting a big maple into a bonsai. I've never had much luck with a bonsai tree. I wish I did.

I wonder what tree think/feel when we cut off limbs. Hmmmm.

You're very clever. A maple tree is lamenting its recent trimming. It could have been worse. It could be fall and all of her leaves would have dropped. Very good.

That's coming. I wanted to have my maple tree topped off to keep it from blowing over in strong winds. The man said he'd take 6-8 feet all around. Nope, I told him I wanted the top cut a bit. Some people go crazy with a chain saw. Did I ever tell you how I nearly cut off a finger with a chain saw?
