I raise chickens myself, Doc.
My pride and joy are the 6 Polish chickens I have. They have that little tuft of feathers atop their heads that looks like they're wearing an afro hairdo.
Nice take on the poetry prompt. It looks as if you've dotted all your "I's" and crossed your "T's".

I liked this poem for its originality and the fact that you had to work under such stringent constraints set by the contest. The humanness of the chickens in wishing for a natural death, almost makes me give up eating them. =)
