Why thank you Jean. This piece took third place. The guy who made the contest said it was the winner but the committee had different ideas. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

Yes , you could of quite easily have won the competition with this .
And as for the committee , say no more . I have written some amazing pieces for these competitions and I never get placed , not even a third . Though I once got a third for my inspirational poem Tears .
Been on here for years now , but half the time I don't enter these comps cos I feel what's the point , LOL

I'm not in it for that either, but when you enter a piece that's when you get the best critiques. And hey, you can't win if you don't play.

A very enjoyable read, Earl. I agree with you. Those who proselytize even bore believers to death. I think God had a sense of humor. He proves it every day. Maybe he'd just like us to treat each other well and have a belly laugh. Good luck in the contest if it's not over. Marilyn

This is just great. I'm the administrator of this contest and I have read about half of these to this point. This is just wonderful. The ONLY mild addition I would insert is 'And Jews don't believe in an afterlife AT ALL.' It is a slick little circular statement to wrap up your riff on belief in the afterlife.
So I voted for you to win this contest. I was under the impression that the final decision was mine, but apparently that is not the case. The one in the lead would not have been a top three for me. I wish I could give you the member money, but I guess we'll see what happens.

I was lol while reading your story. Your beliefs are my beliefs too. I have a nice comfy chair already in hell. I hate cold weather and who says that heaven is hot? I'm a Catholic, but I stopped going to church when I reached the age of reason, 13 and, since I'm Italian and lived in Rome for many years, I'm blessed by proxy, so...you see where I'm going? I appreciate all religions; I'm Jewish on Saturday, so I don't grade any paper from school; I'm Catholic on Sunday, so I don't work, and I respect all the other holidays, so my calendar is a happy one. :)
I Enjoyed your piece immensely. I wish more people were as carefree as we are when it comes to beliefs.
There's just a small typo in 'coo'. I think you meant 'cool'.

Well your story has a lot of humor in it, that's for sure. It also has some pretty good arguments...basrd on your belief system. I enjoyed the read, even though I don't follow the same belief system you do, it was still entertaining. Good luck in the contest .
