I agree! As they say you are what you eat. And you are. What nutrients good or bad gives you good or poor health.
Such as you are what you speak and write good or bad sums up how you will express yourself, good or bad.
Great poem!

This is one view of who/what we are. I believe that actions define us as well.

Maybe "whatever" could be replaced with a stronger word. Or, consider making the word stronger by putting a dash before and after it.

Makes us think about what we choose to say.

A very true poem. We truly need to make the most of our lives and time here before we depart, as well as leaving our mark as best we can. Best of luck in the contest!

I agree with your premise in the poem. I'm reminded that the Bible says no man can tame the tongue and it's full of deadly poison. The tongue can betray us. Of course what we write comes from our heart and the combination of both reveals our character. Nice work. -robert-

I'd say your clever little poem is bang on the money as far as speaking and actions go, a con man will tell lies. a bullshit artist will stretch the truth a politician will blow smoke up your Mmmm etc.
Scribe... I would not say one is what they write however, if one writes about psychopaths, killers, evil etc, it doesn't mean they are, it just makes them creative : ))But hey, Maybe I just misunderstood your point of view there.

Wonder if you couldn't have crammed more active words to cover more than speaking or writing as our additions to mankind prior to our demise. Keep writing.

I totally agree with your assessment of we are a great deal on how we communicate with others. Hurtful words that come from our mouths can feel like daggers at times...

It's really hard to critique this because you've done such a wonderful job considering the constraints of the prompt you were following. The only thing that sticks out to me is the word "whatever" which is usually associated with not caring. It seems like a word someone uses when they can't come up with something better, which is also how it appears here. Speaking, scribing and expressing are very particular actions so to follow them with "whatever" seems to de-value them because ultimately whatever you do matters, not just those things. I really love the rest of the poem though!
